Yeah, the Family Guy is great. There are so many sight gags and references to pop culture that make it hilarious. Truth be told, while Stewie is really funny, he's one of my least favorite parts of the show. Peter, Brian, the sight gags, then Stewie probably.

Yeah, a decade and a half of hilarious episodes would be a bitch...Syenye Squirrellyelf wrote:lets just hope that what happened to the simpsons won't happen to the family guy.

for a few seasons there the simpsons was kind of redundant and boring. the plotlines all followed the same basic pattern. it's slowly getting better but for a while there i was almost embarrassed for the show.masteen wrote:Yeah, a decade and a half of hilarious episodes would be a bitch...Syenye Squirrellyelf wrote:lets just hope that what happened to the simpsons won't happen to the family guy.

I have no idea how a single show can be so funny so many times in a single episode. Things happen so fast, and the references can be so jumbled that even if you can remember your favorite joke, you probably can't remember what episode it's from, because the best stuff just comes out of nowhere.
Simpsons is funny and silly, but Family Guy humor is biting and downright cruel. I dare say if I wasn't a fine arts major, I wouldn't get half the jokes. That's how culturally refined the writing is. Not many shows can get away with throw-away references to obscure, long-dead archetects to make a fart joke work.

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable, let's prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all. - Douglas Adams
Giggity Giggity Giggity!!
Actually, the people that LOVE this show usually do not miss any of the jokes. I've watched many episodes of this (and the simpson but not so much anymore) with a group of people. Myself and a few others will laugh and when we notice the others did not laugh we had to explain to them. They then found it funny. They are not too obscure (granted some references are) but that's what makes it great. You can watch an episode 4 or 5 times and still catch some things that others probably did not.

I have no sense of decency. This way , all my other senses are enhanced!

Lois Griffin : You should spend some time with our kids, Peter. And with me.
Peter Griffin : Uh, what could me and you do together?
[Lois giggles]
Peter Griffin : Lois. You've got a sick mind.
Lois Griffin : Peter, I'm talking about making love.
Peter Griffin : Oh. I thought you wanted us to murder the children and harvest their organs for beer money
.....................................................................................................
[Riding a circus elephant]
Peter Griffin : Look Lois, the two symbols of the Republican Party: an elephant, and a fat white guy who is threatened by change.
.........................................................................................................
Bob Ross: All right, we are going to use a fan brush here and uh why don't you take some hunter green and we are going to put a happy little bush right down over here in the corner there and that'll just be our little secret and if you tell anyone that that bush is there i will come to your house and I will cut you.
..........................................................................................................
[the Griffins have inherited a mansion. Stewie is being waited on]
Stewie Griffin : You. Cut my eggs.
[waiter cuts his eggs]
Waiter: Your eggs are cut sir.
Stewie Griffin : Now cut my milk.
Waiter: Uh,I can't sir, it's liquid.
Stewie Griffin : [slaps him] IDIOT. Freeze it, then CUT it. And if you ever question me again, I shall put you on diaper detail. And believe me, I will not make it easy on you.
...........................................................................................................
I could go on and on. Sooo many great scenes throughout the 3 seasons of Family Guy. If for some reason you don't like the show, it's probably because you managed to see one of the very few not-so-funny episodes.
