You have to be kidding. There's only two things you listed that you would still have to pay if you did not choose to drive, taxes on roads, and taxes for police. And, it seems like a good bit of the tax on gas goes to raod maintence, so you don't even really pay much for the roads, which I'm sure you still benefit from whether you choose to drive or not. As far as the police, you should have to help pay for the police whether you drive or not, since they do a whole lot more than traffic patrol.

If driving were truly a right, then even the blind would have it. That's the whole idea behind something being a "right," everyone has it, pretty much no matter what. Such as the right to vote, or free speech. It doesn't matter whether you are 18 or 80, blind, crippled, or crazy. Driving isn't even close to being a right.

This is true, but public transportation in America is not sophisticated enough that it reaches every place...It's actually almost impossible to live without driving...

Normally I don't like to do this but... that's just fucking retarded and without and basis in fact and provably so; the best you can say is it's "inconvenient" to live without driving, attempting to qualify your statement with "almost" isn't nearly enough.

No one needs to get to Sand Point, Idaho to survive.

Some qualification that you need to commute there, or other jackassery doesn't cut it either.. if you can't find work anywhere else, move there.

Nevermind the fact that there isn't a form of pollution on the planet worse than concentrating seawge in a confined area.
