Brooks students rampage target

By DAVID FREEMAN

Medicine Hat News

A disturbing plan for a Nov. 11 mass shooting at a high school in Brooks was discussed during the trial of a young man who was found carrying a loaded, concealed machine gun in public earlier this year.

Curtis Arthur Bouvier, 20, pled guilty to five weapons and theft related charges at his trial, as plans of a shooting rampage were revealed.

In court, Crown prosecutor Dorothy Smith revealed a crude diagram of Brooks Composite high school drawn by Bouvier purporting to show what he planned to do with the weapons.

The documents suggested Bouvier planned to open fire on students attending a Remembrance Day ceremony this week.

In blunt, black letters, the diagram estimates the "body count" would be 100 to 150 students and three to eight police officers. It details the location of exits and entrances and estimates how much ammunition would be needed.

Bouvier's arrest occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday Aug. 30 when RCMP responded to an area near the Brooks Mall where a man was believed to be in possession of a machine-gun.

They located the man who fled when their identities were revealed. He was apprehended after a short chase and identified as Bouvier.

Police located a loaded Mac 11 submachine-gun in his backpack. A subsequent search of his residence revealed six pellet guns, one paintball gun, M-11 magazine, shell catcher, a handbook and parts to construct another M-11, a silencer for an M-11, brass knuckles and butterfly knives, an AK-47 magazine, more than 500 rounds of ammunition and $1,600-worth of stolen property from Safeway.

Bouvier pleaded, and was sentenced, to carrying a concealed weapon (six months), possession of a weapon (13 months), possessing a loaded, prohibited weapon (six months), unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon (six months) and theft under $5,000 (15 days).

"He was originally charged with eleven counts," said Bev Dash, deputy administrator for the courts, adding that the crown prosecutor stayed the six other charges, including five weapons charges and one count of resisting arrest.

Bouvier will serve the sentence concurrently.

He had an Ak47 magazine but no gun? I wonder if he even knew how to load it. 150 body count? I doubt that. Didnt Columbine have 2 shooters and only like 18 victims?

it wouldnt be 150, if you divide the number of victims by bombers in 911 it comes out to be like 200-250 per bomber,
im guessing just some dumbass in a druid cult or something

The guy had a whopping total of 2 magazines for an M-11. That would give him a grand total of 60 shells before he would have to stop and reload the mags. It is full auto and very lightweight, which means no way are you keeping that from climbing out of your target area. Effective range on it is less than 100 feet. He could do some damage with it if he started up close in a crowded room.....probably hit 10-15 total as a guesstimate. The police would tear him apart with service revolvers before he would have a chance at them.

Aye your correct, but most of you forgot to notice this wasnt during Rememberance Day (we dont go to school on rem. day, atleast in my city).. It was planned for the rememberance day ceremony which is usually the day before or after, where the school sits in the gymnasium or something of the sort.

That body count with just a MAC-11? LOLZ, yeah, right. Maybe if he placed land mines at all possible escape routes, and had a second guy on a 50mm mortar shelling the area or soemthing, he might get that.
