Re: Got What He Deserved...
Definitely. Not only was he going against the separation of church and state, but he was defying a court order. A Judge should not ever do that.Fairweather Pure wrote: Justice has been served.

While I really don't see what the big deal is about this, IF that is what the MAJORITY of people in AL want... although they probably didn't take a vote on it I would guess that most would. Nothing said they had to obey them, it was just a monument...
BUT this guy is another story, whether my statement above is valid or invaild dose NOT matter. He was ordered by the FEDERAL Gov. to remove them. Until the matter is resolved through appeals he should have taken them down. He is not above the law as the article states.
He got what he diserved.

Marb the matter was resolved through appeals. THe Supreme Court refused to hear the case, therefore all his legal outlets were exhausted.
this guy is on a huge ego trip if you asked me. HE was talking about how he was going to send the monument to the Capital (yes in DC) so that the legislature could send a message to the Judiciary which was out of control in this country.
riiiiiiiight....

Apparently they're trying to get him disbarred as well, which I think is unnecessary. He's been removed from the bench, that was the goal, I don't see the point in trying to go after him further than that.

Too often it seems it is the peaceful and innocent who are slaughtered. In this a lesson may be found that it may not be prudential to be either too peaceful or too innocent. One does not survive with wolves by becoming a sheep.

I believe I posted on the last thread regarding this. =p
To be honest I'm quite happy he's been removed, and as an Alabamian would support his disbarrment. His flat out refusal to follow the lows he was sworn to follow is sufficient enough reason in my opinion.
I just hope he doesn't run for governor. =\ This whole debacle has certainly spread his name through the state, and our current governor, who also happens to the most forward thinking one we've had in ages, doesn't seem to be doing too well. His tax package, which had bi-partisan, business, education, and religious support, was overwhelmingly voted down.
It made me sad. =(
