Not a goddamn thing.

Waiting around for recruiters to call with news of supposed interviews is getting old. They tell me within a week... what the fuck is a week? A day, 2 days? I have no idea.

So, I have my cable modem set up now...all the kids are looking at me thinking.. "how can I be the magnifigence that is him?" That's right, I am the way, the life, the all...that is here.

I will tell you what makes me(Canno), so great... it is style, my droogies and long lost friends, essence. It is the taste of life, the new dogma. I am the ID, the yin, the yang. I am the WAY. I am the all-being that torments your every thought.... the now.

I am going insane.

Does no company recognize the all-powerful being that is me(Canno)? I think kperhaps their ideology is flawed. Yes, that is it--flawed. Canno can circumnavigate the globe in mere seconds, can cast away the foul stench of towns such as Los Angeles as a mere afterthought--yet gently set away a moment for a lovely petite redheaded lass... yet I digress..

I am all-powerful, all-knowing and all-encompassing... yet, why cannot I, me, the one--have all my whims come to pass?

Hell, I dunno, I blame Drolgin.

I feel yer pain. I just got layed off after a 4 month contract ended after 6 months. I got a 1 day job imaging 4 laptops for $20 an hour that I managed to stretch to 9 hours. I have an interview today with yet another agency. Hopefully I'll be working again soon. It is times like these that I miss EQ somewhat.

The job market in this area is pretty crappy at the moment... however, it's likely it won't get much worse. (*knocks woods*) I'm sure something will turn up.

Five months and three days unemployed. The company I worked for for the last six years had to cut their IT staff by one third. Unfortunately not only was a low in seniority...but I was high on the salary scale...two things that do not bode well during cutbacks.

I searched for months...every day...every job recruiter...every website...local ads. I have sent in countless resumes and applications. I went for two interviews at Lowe's. I would take any job at the moment. My Masters in geology...I have been a Network Engineer for the last six years...have all sort of certs...and I couldn't even find a shitty job flipping burgers in this economy.

I live in Wichita KS...we have Boeing, Bombardier/LearJet, Cessna, Raytheon all here in town. After Sept. 11 the aircraft industry was hit so hard. There are over 32,000 people that lost their jobs and are still unemployed. When I showed up for an open house at Delta Airlines...they were hiring two positions...over 1200 people showed up.

Yesterday Lowe's calls and offers me a job. Today the local hospital calls and asks me to come for an interview....late this afternoon a local bank calls and asks me to come for an interview. I couldn't get shit in 5 months...now I have a job offer and two interviews in two days.

The economy is so horrid where I live...I am almost tempted to become a democrat! Bah...who am I kidding...I would rather burn in hell....which I would gladly do if it paid well at this point.

As an experienced recruiter, I can tell you one thing. A week usually means 2+ weeks. Why? Cause, believe it or not, we're working our asses off to find you offers, interviews, anything.

It's a tough market out there, and especially in the IT area, it's really sucking hardcore. We hate lying to you, really, but it's very tough when you have a demanding applicant with not so cooperative companies who are dicking you around for weeks at a time.

However, I do wish you luck hon.. I know you're excellent at what you do and I hope that one day, a company will be lucky to take you on their payroll
