Where do you keep your stuff?

Post by Dups. »

No!! Not that kind of stuff!

I was just wondering. I am certain that most of you have at some point in your life gone to a friend's place and notice that they store something at a different place then at your own place.

I know my mother used to store the ketchup and maple sirup in the cupboard instead of the fridge. I find it was better because it would not turn your hot food into cold food as quick.

Any of you notice anything like that?

a friend keeps his butter in his cabinet in the kitchen.

i was looking for the cups at his house one day, open the cabinet, and theres this little plate with a stick of butter on it, uncovered.

he says it being warm makes it easier to spread. anyway i found it weird :)

actually I keep my butter in the cupboard as well. When you spread it on your bread it doesnt cause your bread to look like swiss cheese.

But most of the time it's covered.

I keep pharmaceuticals (cold meds, throat sprays, bandaids, tylenol, sunscreen, etc.) in the linen closet. Is that weird?

Interestingly enough, I really hate Almond Joy, unless they come out of the freezer. Try it sometime, makes them 100x better.

Not at all. Most all of our meds are in the linen closet as well. The only ones that we keep in the medicine cabinet are the ones taken daily like my wife's clarinex and birth control pills. The pain killers/muscle relaxers/et.al. are kept in the linen closet.

Wife likes to keep the peanut butter in the cabinet because it remains easier to spread. I never heard of that before moving in w/ her. Nothing else in our condo seems unusual to me. If something is in an unusual place, it's because we lack the room to put it where it belongs.

I keep all my perfume in the refrigerator. I read somewhere that the perfume keeps better and lasts longer when it's not exposed to steam and varying degrees of temperature change (that can happen if kept in the bathroom).

As long as you can keep the ratio of beer exploded from forgeting to beer drank. You are ok :)

I keep my eyedrops in the 'fridge. Very refreshing, and you don't put too much in them.

It's not a good idea to leave butter out. It's a dairy product and will spoil faster if not refrigerated. Also, a good way to store ginger is to put it in a container with sake.

peanut butter NOT in fridge.

I prefer my ketchup NOT in fridge, though at the moment it's in the fridge...but I have a stash of jack in the box ketchup packets to combat this.

Other condiments (mustard, mayo, etc) in fridge.

I like to keep my soy sauce in the fridge, because I cook with it, and never use it as a condiment. Were I adding it to a finished dish, I would want it room temperature tho.

Butter goes in the fridge, if you want to soften it, you take it out before you use it. Leaving it out sounds scary.

I leave the butter out too, but not the entire thing. I normally cut them up into quarters and store the leftovers in the fridge.

I thought you had to keep ketchup in the fridge or it would go bad... guess I've never really considered it though....

We keep one stick of butter out in a butter dish but all the other in the fridge. Usually only use stick butter for cooking though. Country Crock is teh pwn for toast!

Peanut Butter and Syrup don't go in the fridge... my mom use to do that and I would have to take it out and hide it in the cabinet when she wasn't looking :)

Yes, I myself have sworn off stick butter. Country Crock is soft, easy to spread, and you can buy it in bulk! Peanut butter is in a cabinet. We don't keep syrup... I prefer pancakes/waffles with just butter. Ketchup is in the fridge along with the BBQ sauce... although my husband usually leaves the BBQ sauce out on purpose... damn him!

Oh... and let this be a lesson to you all:

"I'm Chiquita banana and I've come to say - Bananas have to ripen in a certain way- When they are fleck'd with brown and have a golden hue - Bananas taste the best and are best for you - You can put them in a salad - You can put them in a pie-aye - Any way you want to eat them - It's impossible to beat them - But, bananas like the climate of the very, very tropical equator - So you should never put bananas in the refrigerator."

we talked about this on another thread, but one of the primary ingredients in ketchup is vinegar...I'm not sure it's humanly possible for it to go bad.

Pepto in the fridge, I love the taste of Pepto and drink it sometimes when I feel fine. It taste like those little pink wintergreens I used to get at my grandmothers.
