Got a question a/b computer (hard drive space)
When I bought my emachine (emachines pwn) I bought the 1gig for 400bucks with the monitor and all. Bought a vid card same day...put it in same day etc. The next week the huge processor leap happened and emachine was sellin 2.4gig ones for 400 bucks...yet bc i put the vid card in i was stuck with it
yea, but thats not the point
My hard drive is 84% full, and all I really use on this comp is EQ / Trillian (AIM) / SysMetrix / fs freesurfer / internet / WC3 (occasionally) / realplayer / and the usual crap like word etc.
I was wondering if there was a program that would help me free up some space but leave the shit I want.
Or if there was like a method i could do it manually (duh Clatis, just delete any shit thats not named the crap you want). Yea, I did that and it got me no where
If anyone has any suggestions or a program link or anything that would free up a lot of space on my hard drive would be much appreciated
~thanks

If right click on "My Computer" and select drive C, the go to the windows\temp directory and delete everything in it. Lots of install programs and such leave crap in there that just takes up space. There might be a couple active files you can't delete.
In the Windows directory you've likely got $uninstall* directories as well. Those are normally patch backup copies Win makes and can (usually) be safely deleted.

Get a new hard drive, and take a drive image of your old one and stick it on the new one. It doesn't sound like you have a lot of "data" (mp3's, pics, movies, etc.) that can just be moved around, so a second hard drive won't get you much, unless you had some sort of software RAID that would stripe the two drives together into one big drive. I'm surprised that EQ itself doesn't take up the full gig =P
Plus, the performance on the 1gb drive is most likely crap. If you don't have a lot of memory in that box, you will be swapping out a lot, and a slow hard drive will hit your performance big.
