Let me highlight one phrase for you:

"They are seeking class action status for their suit, which seeks to halt the use of wireless networks. "

What does this mean for those who can read critically and not go off half-cocked like reactionary morons? Let me help you.

A) It's class action. They will have a very hard time proving any damages. There will be some $ recovered (if they win), but not some huge winfall.

B) More than the $, they are seeking to halt the use of the wireless networks. This is an injunction tort. It's designed to stop harmful behavior more than to award damages.

There are cases where it is clear that lawyers are the driving force behind the action. This, from the facts listed in the article, does not appear to be one of them. Perhaps you could start whining and bitching about that stupid old lady with the McDonalds coffee, and we can see what kind of arguments turn up.

Was only reported from SF, but reading the first paragraph shows that it is in an area around Chicago

I don't know what happy loving world you live in Toshira, but lawyers don't take a case like this from the goodness of their hearts. Someone will pay them in the end and it will probably be those of us that pay taxes. My reason for bringing it up here is that is just another example of stupid people with stupid lawsuits with no basis in reality or fact.

I live in a world where yes, lawyers make money off of these cases, but also a world where lawyers do a shitload of pro-bono work. I also live in a world of ignorant fucks who blame lawyers for all lawsuits.

Not all of them, just most.
