Thx for the name calling...again like always many of you cant discuss something on this board. And its always the best opt..

If ya noticed we arent trying to make em christians from muslims...its more like dictatorship to a democracy.....You need to look at how your comparing the issue. I think your way off more than I am :)......in prior decades, many had doubted that democracy could take root in Latin America, or in East Asia -(Hell in JAPAN????? Maybe we need to WWII mentality again :O-) both regions that now boast large numbers of democratic governments. The skeptics are wrong here with the Muslim world as they have been wrong before. You need to give the people hope not a hopeless life...build em up and well see. Empower the normal person. Maybe it wont work in the long run, but if it did. And if it went to a some wacked out fundamentalist...WELL they dont have much of an army cause WELL FINALLY DISARMED EM...and well have intellegence firmly in place...Plus now since we have such a foot hold there I doubt wed let it happen....Who knows though depending on the administration.

Notice I said oil was gonna be there somewhere down the line....you think thats the only reason we are there....hell I think another little reason is cause the guy had planned to take out his pop...hell I think there were a long list of reasons.....But go ahead and put on some blinders be Political. You have freedom to think what ya want in this country its all good....Ill just be happy to disagree with you....Have fun :)

Ooohh Sirton what do your l33t direct links to the White House tell you?!?

Somebody mentioned Russia/Soviet Union.. it's amusing to see polls there showing that a majority of the people miss the Communist regime. Last one I saw was about a year ago and had 64% or so saying it. Why? To quote one person: "At least we had bread then"

And of course y'all are doing such a good job in Afghanistan..

The Soviet Union was falling apart without our "help." The Cold War was ending, and that was the only "motivation" at the time. The goal was eradicating the Capitalists. Once it was clear to the leadership that it was not going to happen, it ended. Gorbachev even told the US to "find a new enemy" in '88 because of the fact that he planned on ending the Cold War with Reagan in those years. Of course there are people that miss the Communist days. I am also sure that there are people who miss the days that their families had slaves to work for them. Doesn't make either right just because someone wants it.

The reports that I have seen with the media talking to people that miss the Communist regime are older people that had to live under it for most of their life and not by choice I might add. They were forced to be dependent on the Government of their country.

Kelsh ya been there? Have you seen it or just read somethin in a pole...was it one from the break away republics? Should ya count Poland, East Germany as part of it? Ya get a age profile of it.. Poles mean jack shit..its just someones agenda in someway or another, they can be scewed to easy..... And its not realistic to think any process can be switched to and everything done right in 5, 10, 100 hell even a 1000years....The world is imperfect and always will be.

No, although I have had quite a bit of interaction with Russians back home. It's pretty common for them to visit northern part of Norway (old family ties etc). The last poll I read (as I said, it was a year or so ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy) was for Russia itself, and not just old people no. A couple of experts on Russia (one of them has published a bunch of books and is pretty fairly known) mentioned that if one very strong leader came around, there might be some trouble there.

Of course, quite a few people in East Germany aren't happy either.

ANY attempton the Iraqi's part to push for an Islamic government would be queitly derailed by us on a continual basis. In fact, it's more than likely happening right now.
This is exactly my point. Under no pretext can the US claim the liberation of a people that they are willing to and going to suppress. Yet this simple notion escapes naive fools like Sirton. The US is not going to install a fucking democracy in Iraq you idiot. Not anytime in the near future, anyway. We need about 10-20 years of conditioning the people and incorporating the American way of thought. In the mean time, we'll curtail any attempt at a true democracy while we suck the country dry of oil.
I tell it like a true mackadelic.

Xyun of coarse small minded people such as yourself resort immediately to name calling so Ill respond to you in similar fashion...you put words in my mouth and then say something I agree with..sorry your brain is too small to see it....You think I actually believe we are plannin to completely liberate them right now and install a democracy...That would be totally stupid and a strategic failure....Just as it would of neen if we tried that in Japan. Think my main disagreement is I think Its more of long term strategic purpose and other reasons than Oil...I think oil like number (many) on the list or wed of done something about it in 91 when we had more of a mandate too in the worlds eyes. We have Nigeria, Venezualia, and Russian oil fields for the future...

How long would it take for Iraq to become a democracy under Saddam?
Under us and with our intervention that area will eventually become better, but will become worse for the short term... I do truely believe that its every human beings god given right to live in a free society....it will be much sooner with US intervention than under Saddam and his Sons. I personally think every Dictatorship should be taken out eventually. I dont see that many democracys at war with each other.

This whole policy will take 20-50years to complete....Sorta like the cold war type time table.

Your problem is your blind hatred for people with different views as you...and your automatic insinuations...You need to see a therapist....you narrow minded (THE OIL!!!)indoctrinated twit. I make a decision tree when Im thinking....some stuff I post maynot be on my line of thinking but what I feel is the point of whats trying to be done and would just like to understand what other peoples plans would be or some actual thought into it. other than, DA OIL!!! DA OIL!!! DA OIL!!!
