Any preview thoughts about this? You can see the trailer here.

Looks like it'll be a pretty fun movie imo.

I read the screenplay last year(I am sure things have changed a bit in the shooting script). I thought it was quite clever and definately fit for QT :)

WOW! When is this going to be released? Knowing that this is a QT film I know I can expect a whole lot of bloodshed. When you throw hot women into the mix it can only make things better. Looking forward to this.

All I gotta say is, Uma Thurman tearing it up with a ninja sword to funk music playing in the background floats my boat just fine. :D

If this flows anything like the screenplay, it will be a winner. Uma is just too fucking hot to ignore. QT, IMO, is one of the best directors of the last decade. He is WELL overdue for another gem.

Hmm... I suppose I could (and probably will) do an imdb search, but what was the last movie he directed? Seems like it's been at least 5 years since he has directed anything.

To answer a few questions:

1. What is the last movie Tarentino directed? Jackie Brown

2. What is Kill Bill about? I will make this a non-spoiler answer as it ain't even out yet and I am sure the screenplay has changed a bit: REVENGE. ;)

If you want a spoiler answer, then lemme know and I will make a spoiler post... :)

I noticed in the commercial I saw on TV that it said something like "Vol. I" in addition to the title. Anyone know if QT has some sort of plans to make a trilogy or something?

He has split this movie into two parts, the first opening on Oct 10 and the second part within 5 months of that date.

The movie ran about 3 and a half hours long so one of the Weinsteins talked him into splitting it into 2 parts so they could make 2x as much money. I was a bit choked about it at first but a 3.5 hour action movie might be a little stupid anyway.

I've always had rooted for Quentin to succeed ever since I saw Resevoir Dogs. I'm glad that Kill Bill is getting good reviews already. Even though I thought Jackie Brown was great, a lot of critics and movie nerds panned it and said that QT was out of material.

You gotta purchase a title in the SHop...

As for Kill-Bill... I saw it today, I've never seen so many dead, decapitated, or dismembered people in one movie before ever.... It was mindless blood spitting, blood spattering, blood spraying action. I'd say the goriest movie I've ever seen... coupled with a cool soundtrack and super long fight scenes (good ones).

My friends and I enjoyed it, my dad hated it. I thought it was like a live-action Anime. The over-the-top blood reminded me of Ninja Scrolls. I'll probably go see this again tomorrow. :)

Holy schitzen! Great movie.. Every one of my friends left the theatre stunned, wanting more.

The style and artistic merit is incredible. The blood and gore was sometimes a bit much for me (i'm a wuss though). But the plot and the acting was superb.

unbelievably good. Me and my friend Adam also noticed the similaritys to ninja scroll..anyone else notice a lot of the references to old kung fu movies and shows? Like the green hornet theme for instance..i figured that was a reference to bruce lee. Another being the samurai sword show down between cottonmouth and the bride..reminded me of fist of legend.

Saw it.
Felt that the stories was decent, the acting was ok, the fight scenes were utter crap, the gore was unbelievable, and overall, I regret the fact that I spent money on it to watch.

The most creative piece of film that's been put out in several years. Once again, QT surpasses expectations. So many little things that made it all work. If you don't like QTs style, you will hate this. If you know what to expect, you'll love it.

Akaran... you either get QT movies, or you don't. In no way a slam on you, but knowing you from the boards, I'm not really surprised you didn't like it.

Kill Bill is exactly the way movies should be made. The level of creativity and charisma this movie exudes is unbelievable. Certainly it is a movie for movie lovers.

Right now I am picturing you in the theater making a total ass of yourself and going "OH MY GOD QUENTIN THAT BLOOD IS _SO FAKE_ LOOKING!" while everyone else with a clue is simultaneously laughing at you and wishing you would catch cancer and die.

I'm not saying it lacked creativity - it had it in excess.
Yer right Aranuil.. was pretty much thinking that same thing while watching it.

***mild spoilers***

This movie was so fucking cool. There was crazy ninja fighting, a redneck sheriff, more crazy ninja fighting, an anime segue, a psychopathic Japanese ninja schoolgirl, and that finale scene was just... wow!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the really cartoonish bloodspray didn't start until after the anime segment of O-Ren's backstory, right? Up till then, it seemed pretty much par for american action. I think the extra carnage was almost a live action homage.

the whole point of the arterial spray was to emulate the old japanese violent martial arts movies. that's also where most anime artists got their inspiration from when they animate gore. it wasn't supposed to look realistic.

Realistic, no. Cool as hell, yes. the anime scene was pure QT genius, sticking it in the middle of this movie like he did. QT's style of bouncing around the storyline creates a click in your brain so loud that your neighbor can hear it, as you just 'get it'. The dialogue was very cool, especially the little dialogue that crept into the final scenes.

The only bad experience I had with the movie was having to run and take a piss break right when she entered the sword-smiths shop.

**more spoilers**

My friends and I were talking about the part in the big fight scene when it went B&W. They were saying that it was done to avoid getting an NC-17 rating, but I thought it was done for artistic reasons. It really made it look like a B&W manga.

I also really dug the fight in silhouette, against the blue back with black gridlines.

Hmm I'm pretty sure they went black and white mostly for technical reasons. They wanted a gratuitous amount of arterial spray but didn't want to cover uma thurman from head to toe with blood so they used water. You could actually tell at the end of the scene how much water there was all over the floor.

I was suprised how much QT decided to immulate previous Bruce Lee movies. The fight cheoragraphy, the amount of opponents in certain scenes, identical. Very interesting :)

I liked this movie, but it would have been better if Uma Thurman was faster and more gracefull with a sword. She was extra slow and swung it around like a baseball bat. If you didn't notice this then you haven't seen enough/any good sword play movies.

I'm glad they took a good actress and taught her some moves, rather than trying to teach Engrish and acting to a kung-fu chick.

I agree Uma's combat skills were the weakest, but they were definitely passable, and I think given that she hasn't been doing it all her life, she did a fine job.

well i think the water over the floor could be better explained by how she kept throwing people into the pools. Or maybe he put those in to cover for putting water all over uma
