Schwarzenegger Wins in California
Schwarzenegger Wins in California
No need to link any news items on this one--it's everywhere. I'm a republican, and I'm happy about this, but I live in Wisconsin. Somehow the entire theme surrounding this recall smacks of one of those bad sci-fi futuristic films, where the media and celebrities run the world.
So how did you Cali dudes vote?

I think this might be the first time a politician has won a major election running on absolutely no platform whatsoever. but hell just about anyone is better than bustamante.

Im seriously baffled how people can vote for someone when that candidate has hardly discussed politics about anything or how he is going to fix anything. He just blabs out one-liners and bullshits about how he hates politicians and preaches to the choir about how Gray Davis sucks and somehow this makes him the people's best choice.
I seriously have no idea what he thinks of many important issues...Anyone know where he stands on more of the important issues?

I take it you did not watch the debates...He is against Drivers licenses to illegal immigrants, against increasing tax and that silly registration tax that Davis put into effect that nearly trippled the amount the citizens have to pay to use the roads. He says he will get rid of that thing right off the bat. That is where he stands on the important issues. If you want actual action plans, you'll have to wait and see, or vote for Mcclintock next time 'round.Keverian FireCry wrote:Im seriously baffled how people can vote for someone when that candidate has hardly discussed politics about anything or how he is going to fix anything. You guys need to watch the news more.
Arnold is fairly moderate as far as republicans go. He is Pro-Choice, Pro-Gay Rights, Pro-Medical Marijuana, anti-car tax, anti-taxes, anti-big government, anti-illegal aliens.
He also has Warren Buffet working for him for free.
I am Libertarian and I would have voted for him if I could have.

Arnold will most likely do a decent job, assuming then legislature lets him. He talks a good game at any rate.
If you'd look into his background, he's a pretty sharp guy. A bit rough around the edges though
As far as I can tell, he did a very good job as Governor of MN.Phugg_Innay wrote:Jesse Ventura as Governor

Apparently, Californians want him to "stick around."
p.s. At least his chads aren't hanging...

I wonder what he'll do to "Let off some steam".
I have always liked Arnold, even before I realized that we're pretty similar politcally. A bit on the liberal side when it comes to issues regarding one's own body, a bit on the conservative side when it comes to economics. I look forward to seeing how he'll do as Governor.

...not to mention the power of the "K" (for Kennedy)Marbus wrote:Arnold may be a republican but just like in every house hold Maria has the power of the "P" which is all powerful when it comes down to menShe has obviously liberalized the man over the years... which is a good thing. As we can see from this map, the coastal regions of this state harbor all of the intelligent, reasonable people*, with a bunch of redneck, conservative backwater dipshit yokels stuck in the middle.
EDIT: Exception of Santa Barbara, which is full of super-rich fucks,
and San Diego. I have no idea what they were thinking.

Ventura's stint as governor was pretty much a disaster. He left the state a lot worse off than it was going in. I don't really blame him though, as the elite from both the democratic and republican party literally joined forces to gang bang him for his entire term for daring to win an election as an independent. It was like that episode of the transformers when the autobots and decepticons teamed up, only it was like they did it so they could attack a high school or a retirement home.Aabidano wrote:As far as I can tell, he did a very good job as Governor of MN.
I think if they left him to his own devices he would have done a good job, but at the end of his term he basically surrendered to his enemies for beating him down so badly; and he really isn't the kind of guy that gives up easily.

Looks like arnold would have had a rough time if minorities in the US got out and voted more often. He lost out pretty badly among minorities with Davis' puke politics trying to out him as a racist and a sexual harrasser. It's pretty sad to see the black population vote so heavily for Bustamante given the fact that he called a room full of black laborers "niggers" in a speech he gave in 2002. I wouldn't even have voted for that asshole if I was hispanic.
17% of the black vote is fucking low though. I mean I think David Duke got 17% of the black vote in Mississippi or whatever redneck state he ran in.
