This is actually useful stuff. I've seen my tax dollars used in much more inefficient ways.

Well, they're just a subset of NOAA (which does do work useful in RL), but you're talking about 7 (probably highly paid) individuals that don't seem to have an objective other than collecting "cool shit" to post on teh intarnet...

heh just reciently my county's school super intendent put in her own private bathroom while there needed to be big budget cuts ..... her reasoning was "i don't like to use a bathroom that doesn't lock" (the bathroom down the hall didn't have a lock because it was a public bathroom
