The wife can put up with it a couple of nights during the week and she usually gives me a weekend morning.

Of course, even that can get thrown by the wayside if anything significant pops ups in either of our lives. For example, our bid was accepted on a house a little over a week ago. The guild probably thinks I fell off the planet.

To be honest, I think my wife gets more annoyed when I hop online to play some espn football on the xbox. Usually only get about an hour of that in before she starts nagging.

Pretty much the same here. Don't start missing the important stuff....kids basketballl games, PTA, etc and it isn't a big deal.

Yeah I push my luck sometimes. She even plays once in a while herself. Still after two years of these games she gets pretty fed up with my playing fairly quick.

my husband and I have different hobbies and he works quite a bit and hangs out with his brother and his friends sometimes so it works out okay. he didn't like it when I was playing EQ though. everquest is just about the only game he knows by name because I used to play it all the fucking time.

I never got that speech but many times I thought it was coming... My wife is pretty cool with it as long as I can quit easily if something happens and I don't devote ALL my free time to one thing.

While she knows other games like Quake, Diablo, StarCraft etc... only EverQuest gets the evil "I fuckin' hate that game and eveyrthing to do with it" look. She bought me my N64 though, never played it a whole lot and don't have a current generation console but I'm sure we will buy the next generation as Joseph will be a little older then. He already will sit with me for a good 20 min (which is a LOT for a 10 month old) and watch me play D2... primarily because he likes the frozen orb anamation I think :)

Wife hates it. I have spent more money to tr and appease her hatred for EQ than I have spent on the game, yet everytime she see a new expansion purchase on the bank statement she freaks!

Not married, but my ex-girlfriend absolutely HATED video games of all types... she only wanted to do things like "go outside" or "spend quality time". I guess I was just unlucky... However, I did bend to her will eventually after the evil stares! :P

My wife hates EQ...she used to unplug my router when I was in the middle of playing..but I have secured my equipment and she can no longer do that any longer.

I have reduced my playtime to reasonable levels...and even if I log on late at night while she is sleeping..if she wakes up and finds out I am playing...she goes off the handle.

I once asked her, "Would you rather me play EQ in our house or be off in some strip club somewhere hitting on other women?". Her reply, "Nothing is worse than that stupid game."

We met on EverQuest. He played it longer than I have though. We both quit EQ, and are waiting for WoW to come out, though we won't be playing it as much as we played EQ.

We also play console games. Our kids will probably be born with a game controller in their hands.

But I never once complained about Tiger woods golf, Tony Hawk skateboarding, Crazy Taxi, Vice City, Doom, WWF wrestling, Maddens football, the NBA game, countless other idiot games or his gameboy, so screw him. :fist:

My ex really hated StarCraft, but wasn't around to hate EQ. She hated anything that took attention away from her. My GF loves EQ and we play side by side.

I got my last GF into video games. I was pretty honest at the beginning. I told her I gamed. A LOT. I explained about EQ, R6, and teh joy that is the PS2.

She was hanging out after dinner one night, and I introduced her to SSX Tricky. 3 hours later, while I'm on a PoA raid, she tells me "My thumb kinda hurts." :D

We broke up like a year and a half ago. :(

No, it wasn't because of that. I just wasn't very happy with my life, and I didn't want to project any of that onto her.

Now that I've escaped the corporate rat race, I'm much happier, but also 500 miles away from Tampa.

First time I met my other half we hooked our laptops together and he kicked my ass in StarCraft. A year or so later, we bought EQ at the same time and played together till he lost interest in the game. I still play and he still games (Warcraft, PS2 games, etc). He understands and accepts my enjoyment of EverQuest but if we do "too much" of anything that takes attention from the other person, both of us get annoyed

It works for us :)

I promised my fiance that when we got married I'd stop playing
(we were long distance for 2 years - Chicago & Minneapolis).
I quit EQ when we got married 4 months ago. I think I used
to play EQ like 30 hours a week back then, I dont come close
to playing video games that much in a month now.

In retrospect, I find it very hard to imagine someone playing EQ
in a "hardcore" way (20-30+ hours a week) when married to someone
who doesn't play. I guess if both people played, there wouldn't
be any issues. For the record, my wife hates video games.

My wife didn't mind at all when I played EQ all the time, she was able to watch all of the TV shows that she liked and I didn't. I have a very tolerant wife, if I want to marathon on the xbox, ps2 or game cube she will go into the bedroom and watch TV on the smaller screen.
