On the topic of beer - Favorite Brewpubs

No holds barred discussion. Someone train you and steal your rare spawn? Let everyone know all about it! (Not for the faint of heart!)

On the topic of beer - Favorite Brewpubs

Post by Canelek »

I love brewpubs. Great beer, great food, hottie waitresses.

I am told that Portland has some good ones, I, of course, will try them all! :P Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Seabright Brewing - Santa Cruz, CA. Garlic-cheese fries and a Top 'O the World barley wine. yum! Bright indoor and outdoor area with great TVs for Sunday football!

2. B.J.'s Brew and Grill - many SoCal locations with a few in Portland, OR. I usually went to the one in Woodland Hills, CA at least one day a week for lunch--their pizza is fucking fantastic. Their burgers and other menu items are yummy as well. Tatonka Stout and Pirhana Pale Ale are worth the trip.

3. Santa Barbara Brewing Company - SB, CA - IMO State Street's best location to dine on a huge 1/2 lb burger w/ rosemary fries and just about any of their brews (their Oktoberfest beer is unreal!) Years ago, we had them sponsor the Evergreen Open(disc golf event)--2 kegs were provided, yay!

:D

Learn it, Love it, Live it.

By far my favorite string of pubs in the Northwest. You really can't beat being able to drink beer/eat food, and watching a movie, and having a hotel/hostel room to crash in afterwards.

Gonna have to agree with Wiever.

McMenamins is the absolute best. Being able to watch a semi-recent movie, while sippin a beer and eating some fantabulous burgers (and oh so yummy fries) just owns. Not to mention that no matter where I have lived in the greater Portland-Metropolitan area, there has always been a McMenamins right around the corner.

Happy days.

There is a great one in Copenhagen too called Bryggeriet (meaning the breweri). Good food, good beer, right next to Tivoli.

I know most americans will never make it here, but now you know :)

Forgot to mention, most of their pubs are old restored places. One, the Kennedy school was at one time an all girls school; and now a hotel, pub, theatre, restraunt with about 5 different bars in it. Ever wanted to smoke in detention room? The old detention room was converted into a cigar bar. This is just one of the many interesting locations they have. I seriously can't get enough of McMenamins.

Can't say that I ever go to BJ's. If you are a pizza fan, you must check out Flying Pie's Pizzaria. This pizza will make a fat man wish he had more stomach.

Hmm, I had better join a gym first... With my metabolism slowing down like a bastard, I will go from 160 to 200 in no time! :P

Tampa Bay brewing company down in the Ybor district of Tampa Florida was cool. They had this beer called "Moose Killer" or something...holy shit that stuff fucked me up fast.

I think it was like 12 percent or something? 24 proof. And they were serving it in large glasses, maybe 16-20oz glasses. I had two thinking I didn't want to get a buzz on so early then went and stood up to go to the second bar and....wow.

I wasn't drunk but I felt like I drank maybe 5-6 beers, that's why I asked what proof it was. I think he said it was made with barley wine or something. I bet some people have had to take a cab home from that, I would normally have 3 beers if I planned on driving...and 3 beers would put you WAY over the limit if it's moose killer.

Waterloo used to be the best here in Austin, but now I think the Copper Tank would fit into that category. I have been told there are a couple new ones, but since I have just started back onto beer slowly (been dieting/working out all summer) we'll have to see!

If you love Belgian beer, then you must go here.

Very very impressive on tap and bottled beer menu and good food. Only drawback is the place needs to be about twice as big as it is now. Gets crowded fast.

Hops in Tampa Bay. Good beer, very consistant, and the food is tasty too (I miss teh Hops Stickers).

Also, the bartenders weren't retarded. I ordered a round of red snapper shots there and this is the only place in 4 years that didn't try to put fucking Jager in them.
