Okay so I logged on test tonight to check out the new particle effects: They suck major donkey dong right now. I seriously hope they reconsider and get some real artists in there. A few are 'alright' looking... but the majority of them remind me of playing sonic the hedgehog (swirley stars) and the majority of them (that i've seen) are yellow... gross.
If you go to test and download all the files necessary to view it, be sure to check out your eq directory and open the few TGA files that are there (like 6 or eight)... some look like they are an attempt at the 'old' graphics.. while others look simply retarded (some ghost looking shit).
I am a graphics person.. I like things to look good, but this thing needs serious revamps. Again, some are 'nice'... but they aren't 'magical' anymore.
Another option if you want to see what the new spells look like is to download a .dds plug-in for photoshop... The dds files definitely look better than the .tga files they're using.. but still need lots of work.
Those particle effects remind me of the old Hanna Barbara cartoons. As much as I loved Heman etc... I cannot allow this to be in my EQ game. Everytime someone casts Aego on me, I think I HAVE TEH POWAH!

Particle effects?...you mean these still exist?...Have'nt seen a particle effect since the Luclin expansion..hehe...Come to think of it I don't ever hear anything in Norrath either,No sound,No flashy colors,No toilets!..Norrath is an odd place indeed!
I heard the new spell effects are less lag because they are a smaller files size. But i do agree they look horrible they need to hire some creative people and fire the people who keep regurgitating the ugliest crap. But we are used to the old and been that way since the beginning. I have a open mind but I don't think I want some gay looking soilder poping infront of me when I get buffed up..
