Newbie Questions

Post by Nimhe »

Ok, I am a quasi-newbie needing some guidance. I have been away from EQ for about two years and formerly played an enchanter. Need some questions answered:
-Are enchanters and clerics still often needed classes?
-Does SOE allow windowed mode now to play 2 accounts on 1 machine? (Since I never actually read the ToS)
-I am looking for an old friend named Kitania......anyone happen to see her around?

Thanks,
-Nimhe (newbie)

1: Yes
2: Yes, possible but painful
3: Never met 'er.
Akaran of Mistmoore, formerly Akaran of Veeshan
I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

Paldual Caverns seems to be a favorite newbie haunt. The exp is quite good there for the teens to low 20s. HK is still always packed. newbie quest armor is nothing to talk about, its really a bunch of crap. They are in the home town of the newbie, usually given out from their guild. You could make money selling CB belts and then buy better armor, in the time it took you to gather the quest pieces...or maybe thats just my luck.

I am all about newbie quest armor. My former enchanter was level 53 and his best item was a frozen black crytalline robe and an isideous rod. Never been good with the farming.

The newbie quests will be given in your home guild and will involve the 2-3 zones nearest to your hometown. Paludal caverns is the bees knees for power exp, but its also mostly cashless mobs so there's a tradeoff. Clerics and enchanters are still widely popular for groups.
I cant place it specificly, but the name Kitania does seem familiar, so I think she does actually still play.

K thanks. Name probably got changed from server transfer.

On a game related note, how in the f#$% do you get past the newbie levels (1-14) in this game? It has been like 5 years since I played a newbie and about 2 years since I played EQ. Am I on crack thinking I should be able to get to level 10 in one day? My mind is running on DAoC mechanics and I just can't seem to grind effeciently.

I am trying to level a cleric currently. Anybody have a fine steel mace they can throw me? I hate to be a begger, but I forgot how totally screwed you are in this game as a newbie. No good quests for pure newbies to get moving.

Usually can get a person 1-10 in the time it takes to sneeze. There are a lot of newbie zones that got exp boosts. Clerics are a little hard to play untwinked at lower levels though.

They have gone in and added "newbie" quests for many if not all of the races lately. Not sure what race you chose, but maybe they will help you out some.

Best places to level a newbie nowadays are the zones where you do the Ldon adventures. Because there's a lot of high level characters you can get buffs from.. You can still pick up groups in CB and the Orc camps in East Commonlands. Paludal caverns are awsome till level 26. After that ,you should do adventures, good loot, plat and with points you earn, you can get armor/items/augments.
Look me up in game and I'll be glad to buff you.
Kittania still plays, you have a better chance to see her after 9 pm pst.

Good luck and welcome back to EQ :D

newbie stuff

Post by Nimhe »

Thanks. I think I am more or less destined to be a perma-noob with the amount of playtime I have now. I forgot how much time it took in this game to get stuff done, without having a scheduled group or whatnot.
