Republican party seeks to draft Dennis Miller into politics

The comedian Dennis Miller is being talked about, apparently seriously, as a Republican candidate for a statewide post. Three Republican strategists interviewed in the past week have said they want to draft Miller into politics. One, a prominent Republican operative and Schwarzenegger aide who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that once the recall election is over, he plans to recruit Miller to challenge Barbara Boxer for her U.S. Senate seat next year.

The Schwarzenegger campaign even provided Miller a political audition of sorts this week. The comedian, famous for his raunchy and irreverent rants and his stint on "Saturday Night Live" more than a decade ago, provided the campaign's official post-debate spin in Sacramento Wednesday night. Later the same evening, Miller spoke at a Schwarzenegger rally.
That's pretty impressive when a political party seeks office for you that's not based solely on how popular your movies are and wether you registered as a Dem or GOP. Dennis is a very bright guy.

On a side note, has anyone ever watched the Bill Maher show on HBO? Now that's entertainment, even though I disagree with everything he utters, he presents his opinions very well.

You're talking about Libby, right?

Maher's new show is very entertaining. He's definitely a bit of an asshole, though I do find myself agreeing with him on a lot of issues. It's refreshing though to see someone from the left and someone from the right being able to tell each other to fuck off and not have it be censored.

I like both as comedians, but I think Miller doesn't let trivia like facts get in the way of supporting his political tendancies. People will say Maher is a Democrat shortly, but he's more anti-establishment (in the sense that the establishment is responsible for most of the stupidity in the world) than partisan.

I think people who don't like Maher confuse anti-establishment for anti-american, and just can't get past their grade school brainwashing.

Maher is awesome...His show, along with the Daily Show, are the best talk shows around.
