You should never do three lanes at once, you lane change, check for clear, then make the next change.

Sometimes this just isn't possible. In know in my new area you have four lanes on the left as you merge from the right. There's a 3-way split not far (as in, less than a quarter mile) from where you're able to merge and you have people going from the left to take the right split while on the right you have to make it into the far two left lanes if you want to go that way. All this at 65-70 miles per hour.

I'm not saying you should not bother looking and just crank the wheel until you get in the lane you want but you don't always have enough time to do it the "correct" way. Although I also seriously doubt any cop would give a ticket in that particular situation. However, if it's not a major interstate those who make those sort of lane changes will probably end up with a ticket sooner or later. Or a wreck.

As far as "honest mistakes" go, yes they happen. I was involved in an accident where I was at fault but I didn't go out of my way to make it happen. Basically what ended up happening is I approached a highway intersection and saw I had a green light. I saw a truck on the opposite site of the road sitting there so my mind registered the green light as one of those green left arrows that are common nowadays so I slowed down some to around 45 maybe, and continued to make the left when all of the sudden there was just a violent impact. I can't even explain it really. So much happens so fast your mind just can't comprehend it all.

Eventually the story was that the truck was making a left, so he was stopped because of oncoming traffic. The other car, a late 80s Cougar, which was obscured at that precise moment by previously mentioned truck, hit the right front as I had managed about 45 degrees out of my 90 degree turn. The highway speed was 55 so that gives you an idea of the result. I basically ended up down more than a 100 feet in the direction the other car was travelling. The thing that probably saved me the most was the where and when I was hit. It wasn't a head-on and it wasn't broadside. Airbags and seatbelts didn't hurt either.

I did end up getting sued over it. Twice. Luckily, since I was in a rental at the time, the rental company appointed me a lawyer and I didn't end up in debt my entire life because of a mistake.

I neglected to take pictures of the carnage though shortly afterwards I wished I had. Sometimes you need a reminder of how lucky you are just to be alive.

I have now decided to sue the old fuck. I probably wouldn't have went through with it until his insurance company called me. I contacted them to get a rental car, it being a Friday I was pressed for time. They said they would have to contact him then call me back. They did. The motherfucker told them I was being reckless and also speeding. Under NC law if I am 1 percent liable then he only pays for damage or some shit, I am not to sure on the specifics. Fortunately for me I checked out my skid marks (all 10 feet of them) and I was dead center in the lane until impact. The fact that this old bastard is trying to get out of this pisses me off to no end, especially now since I have to wait until Monday at the earliest to get a car if their investigators don't find me liable. Though the whole 1 percent thing kind of frightens me, I mean shit, 35 was the speed limit and I was doing 40 i would guess before I hit the brakes, so if 5 miles over means I don't get shit, there will be some lawsuits.

And that is what you should bring up when they say that. If he knew you were being wreckless, how in gods name did he hit you, since that means he would have had to have seen you.

I was against the sueing thing, but take that fucker to court and make sure you milk that shit for all it's worth!

Mistakes happen.

But this old man has stated he saw him driving recklessly and pulled out into the side of his car anyway.

In an attempt to deny he made a mistake, he lied...well either that or he hit Zamtuks car intentionally.

With that in mind, I say you should correct his behavior. Because either way, that fucker is an asshole.

He deserves to be sued.

Just make sure you don't end up with lawyer fees...because courts are fucked up. The good guy doesn't always win...even if you had photos, videos, eye witnesses...even if the judge himself witnessed it. Courts are very biased.

And even if you do win money, there is always a chance the state will figure out someway to claim it's thiers. They did it to my mom after her wreck, she ws hit so bad by a van with an uninsured driver that they had to pull her car off two other cars by using multiple tow trucks in seperat e directions, she had serious injuries...she got money for the medical and some for pain and suffering...and I forget if Michigan or Conneticut took all the money...she had to pay for the medical out of her own pocket. They simply found a loop hole because she moved during the case to take a new job (the case took years).

The woman beside me narrowly missed it and almost hit the sign to the carwash. (that i met later) Which brings me to the speeding accusation. I had just came from a red light and the rest of traffic was up there with me. Even if I had went 5 over my brakes took it to at least speed limit or less.

The real shitty thing is I can't get my fucking keys out of my car. And the stupid rednecks (not racist, but true) gave me wrong directions not once but THREE times. By the time I got there, they were closed.

You need to call your insurance company and request that they appoint a lawyer to your case. Explain to them that this guy is now lying to weasel out of responsibility. If they don't, then start calling some of the 100,000 ambulance chasers in the yellow pages until you get one that will talk to you without a retainer.

sue the fucking hell out of him for no other reason than his insurance rates will skyrocket and hopefully there will be one less dumb old fucker clogging up the roads with his oldness. if you're worried about looking opportunistic then donate all your winnings to charity or something, but do it for society.

Sure his insurance rates will go up...but...guess what, so will YOURS. Say it wont, but you think your insurance would cost what it does without the greedy lawsuits? Sure, if you win a lawsuit over time it will balance out for you in the plus column, but people that are lawsuit crazy are just greedy, sure, lots of people do it...so its ok...right?

Go see a doctor and get x-rays regardless of how you feel.
