It's gonna be a long story, but here it goes:
My buddy and I were driving around, bored out of our minds. We live in the country, so there's not much to do, so we decided to take a drive around a local back road. This isn't any ordinary road, it's the local "haunted" road i guess you could say. There's one story that sticks out in my mind about a hookman or something, but that's irrelivant for now.
Imagine this setting: A road with no houses on it, cutting straight through thick woods and wide enough for one car. It's full of potholes, the town seems to have forgotten about it. We drive down it every now and then looking for a scare, never really expecting to get one.
Tonight we did.
We're cruising along doing about 25mph, about as fast as you can go without bottoming out on the potholes. We pass a small posted driveway that goes into a field and ultimately into nothing. To our surprise, there's a car parked on it. We drive by staring, it looks empty. There's never a car on this road, there's no houses and no reason to be out there. We perform a picture pefect 7 point turn and drive by again. Yup, definitely a car parked there. Again it seems empty and there's nothing for us to gain by checking it out any closer. So...
We execute another by-the-book 7 point turn and continue on our way. We pass the car again and pay no attention and contine down the road. It was hard not to notice that the road behind us suddently seemed brighter.
Headlights.
The car comes pulling out behind us, rather quickly, tires spinning and seemingly in a hurry. We get scared, we forget about the 30mph limit to the road and we're flying down it doing our best to dodge potholes. The other car is having no trouble keeping up as we near the end of the road which is a T shaped intersection, with the stopsign facing us.
Since it's a backroad we don't really pay much attention to the stopsign and end up blowing through it, fishtailing as we take the right turn, finally contorling it and putting it to the floor. Our friend follows suit and keeps the heat on. We go down this road, our car slowly pulling away until we put probably about 300 feet between us.
At this point we're approaching two more right hand turns. The second turn leads to a long straight road with a few hills on it, and the first turn is to an L-shaped road that loops and intersects the second road at another T-shaped intersection. We take the first turn and the other car takes the second turn, presumably to cut us off. We speed up and make the intersection before them, and take a right onto the road in front of them.
Speeds on this road are getting up and over 100mph, the other car isn't falling back much, but we're gaining ground. We hit the first hill and actually get air off of it - an odd experience in a car, beleive me - and continue down the straightaway. It's flat from here on out so we push our car to the limit and put about 500 feet in between us. This road ends up at another T-shaped intersection, where it meets a more populated road. We get on this road, which has only light traffic this time of night, and we pass some cars and add to our distance.
Once around a wide curve we brake hard and turn off the road onto another back road. We back into someone's driveway and cut the headlights and watch our newlyfound friend drive by. That's pretty much the last time we saw him all night long.
So after our approximatly 10 mile long adrenaline rush, it's over and we actually found the scare we were looking for for once.
There's no doubt in my mind he was chasing us, and what he was doing sitting on that back road to begin with was beyond me.
Curiousity killed the cat I guess. By the way, this is in NO WAY an exaggeration, as far-fetched as it sounds, it's all true.
Share your stories, real life horror stories have always been a favorite of mine i've just never had one good enough to tell until now...
