Aabidano I agree, most cops are decent people.
But not all cops are....I've been pulled over many times, almost all of them were my fault.
Those 3 were not.
I mean I am friends with cops. I *just* got home from a bar, in which I was drinking with off-duty cops (Zergs was my ride home, he doesn't drink). My old college roomate is a cop in Chicago. I don't have problems with cops in general.
I do have problems with cops who overstep thier authority. I've been dicked with before....once you see it first hand....you won't trust any random cop again.
I mean even the cop who ran my liscence for no reason....I didn't have a problem with him. I actually thought he was a nice guy..still confused why he ran my plates..but hell, I did the crime I guess...I mean I paid the ticket but it's not his fault it showed as unpaid, that was another states problem.
But the guy when I was 17, lied to my face outright LIED. I mean it's kinda hard not to be mad at a person who says "you were speeding" and you respond with "I just got a speeding ticket officer, I know I wasn't speeding, I was watching closely" and then he says "you ran the stop sign" when you know you were following a friend and she stopped. And you stopped behind her, and again at the stop sign (Even though I did notice it was twisted sideways behind a tree branch, I worked there, I knew it existed, and like I said, my friend stopped) so then he says "you were squeeling your tires" listen, I didn't go over 10 MPH, my car was an automatic with 150 HP or less...do the math. Then when I protested further, he said he had witnesses and pointed to a fucking bush when I asked him where....that's when I gave up. My friends had pulled around watching from across the parking lot, I actually had witnesses. But no way you can win against a cop under those circumstances. I went back with a camera witht he thought that street sign set-up was enough...but it was in the morning..the sign was twisted back and the branch was fresh-cut...proving it was twisted at any time or the date of the cut would be near impossible without millions of dollars on attorneys...and $50 stop sign or whatever it ended up being was easier to pay..
The other time like I said....he stated he followed me for "miles" I wasn't a half mile from home, I just left to get a subway sandwich from the gas station (they are same building). I was in the middle of a raid in EQ, I don't drink and play EQ. He said I was drunk, I hadn't had a beer in a week. He said I was swerving, I wasn't swerving. I saw him in the gas station parking lot when I pulled in, I saw him in my rear view mirror turn around and come up behind me...he didn't follow me at all. And the fact he backed down when I started walking to the lady at the pump proves it. I'll give you that I did turn into the parking lot quickly, the light just got out from the other direction and if I didn't move it I'd be stuck for awhile in the middle....but I didn't do anything crazy...I just moved quickly, no tires squeeled or anything. It was like 10pm on a fri or sat though, and that's why he did it. Red semi-sporty looking car....I don't look 29, maybe more like 23-26...
I mean shit I could scan a ticket with my scanner that shows I am amost as honest IRL as on here....I have a tcket that says I was doing 46 MPH over the limit and when confronted "operator stated 'wanted to see what the car could do'" I shit you not, I am honest. When the judge asked me about it (you have to go to court for something like that)...I didn't give any excuses..I just said I was a stupid teenager.
I saw the old ticket like a week ago...I'll look and see if it's where I think, I know the ink is faded some...it's like 11 years old. I had it framed for awhile in college.

Ok found it, was right where I thought it was...
<a href="http://www.dangermice.com/jeff/ticket.jpg">Ticket</a>
I got another ticket for doing dougnuts next to 2 cop cars who were parked talking to eachother, ever notice how well white cop cars blend in witha 6 ft tall mound of snow?...Unfortunately my efforts were fruitless in forwards because I'm was front wheel drive, so I eventually had to kick it in reverse, my friends thought that was perfect heh...but the ticket was uneventful, he asked me "what type of jackass are you?" and I said "the type of jackass who does dougnuts next to two cop cars obviously" and he didn't write it down.../sigh
I mean if you KNOW your going to get a ticket....might as well have some fun.

Or, far, far more likely, YOU dont actually know the law. Most people have a highly exagerated idea of what the law is and their rights are, and I think you're one of them. A lawyer says it was on the up and up, and youre STILL argueing otherwise? Sheesh.Kylere wrote:If a lawyer said it was all legal, then there is something to this story you are not telling usEbumar wrote:I talked to my friend's dad. He's a lawyer. He said not to worry about it. He said that pretty much everything was conducted to standards, except maybe them having their weapons out.
FYI, I am white, so it wouldnt be racial stereotyping. And truthfully, the cops were pretty nice when they asertained my innocence.
I guess it's just a story for the books.
And yes, I was scared shittless regardless.
Edit- I just now read the rest of the thread. No they didn't ask me for my liscence, registration, or insurance. All they did was get me out of the car, handcuff me, then search. Like I said above, my friend's dad that is a lawyer said everything except maybe weapons being drawn was legal. So I guess I should just chalk it up as a life experiance to NEVER jack a car.

About a month ago I had left to go to the store for some munchies and coffee. On my way back I see this car behind me kept coming up on my tail end.I am thinking WTF a drunk ass.I hurry to the next stop sign make my left into the driveway and start getting out when I turn around the car was there,a police car.He had turned on his lights *to attract attention*.I said could I help you sir? His reply was where were you?Which route did you travel? When did you leave your house? Do you live here?Is this your vehicle? How long were you gone?Which route did you take to come home?Did you speak to anyone ? Did you see anyone on the way to and from there?.I said wait a sec.Whats this about I did nothing wrong*by this time my husband was out the door and at the car*Then the young punk cop says well we just had a domestic dispute and your vehicle was described as the correct one at the seen.
He ran my plate, took my license. Then says ok guess it's not you.Gets in his car and pulls away. No apology.

My quick and dirty story,
Male 33 (look about 25) , drive lifted black Jeep, live on a court off a Very busy street/local hwy. I pulled out to cross traffic , was turning left so had to gas it. btw Jeep has 33in tires really low gears and about 210hp maybe 230 at the peak (its impossible to squeel them ties unless its on dirt or wet pavement). So I pull out rather fast , into the R lane so I can turn right at the corner (was heading to 7-11 fer smokes during the downtime of a raid) proceed to turn R , see the lights and pull over safely (directly in fron of my sisters house) cop comes up, the first thing out of his mouth are " What are you on probation for" then the norms , liscence reg etc ... he also asked when the last ticket I got was , I say something like 10 years ago, which is true. in the end he just warns me to use my blinker when turning r onto the other main st I was going to. What really got me was the question.
The really funny part of the whole thinmg was that 1 week later I was at a den meeting with my son (Cub Scouts) and the Den leader had a officer there so the kids could see the ar and all the stuff a cop would have/do . It was the same Dickweed that asked me that question. Needless to say he appologized out his ass a couple times that night to me. even said that a couple of the white gang kids in town have Jeeps just like mine (which is a load of shit because I know almost every Jeep in this small town)
Thats it on mine . I would'nt try to fight the issue with the city , but I would sure as hell bring it up to the Capt or Chief or whoever it is. Just to get some clarification on what is the "proper proceedure" in your case.

Second, if you are giving advice to 'follow up on it' based on a totally unrelated issue, did you take your own advice and follow up on the cop that asked you questions?
Third, you do understand that there is nothing wrong with your scenario right? I can even pull into your driveway, ask you an entire slew of questions if I wanted to until you asked me to leave. You at no point asked him to leave, see his credentials, and did not even question what it was about until you had voluntarily answered about 10 questions.
Fourth, if you want to sue the department on grounds that a cop asked you ten questions, then had the audacity to not apologize, then go right ahead and put my tax dollars to work!
Fifth, don't take my comments personal.

I've worked with the RMP, they can be some flaming assholes as well. Fun guysvn_Tanc wrote:Fuck me do your cop application forms have a section titled something like "Are you a prejudiced asshole given to making snap assumptions about people on the flimsiest of pretexts such as the colour of their car? I got a ticket for "excessive acceleration" once, smoking rear tire and front wheel in the air on a bike

The fact that your tires are squealing generally means you're either doing something stupid and\or unsafe or braking hard. My tires don't squeal during normal usage.
"Life is what happens while you're making plans for later."
Heh they'd have a fucking field day here. I had some friends work as travelling salesmen at various times. These guys invariably lower the pressures slightly in their company car tyres to make sure they get a bit of squeel when pulling away from the lights etc.
Anyone over there been pulled for "aggressive signalling" or "windows open non-standard amount on st.michelmas eve"?

Yeah my tires weren't squeeling, but the officer just stated so....
He said it was reckless driving....but really since I wasn't accelerating fast, I wasn't turning....and my tires didn't squeel..that was my main problem with his statement. Whether or not squeeling tires was an offence wasn't what I was pissed about, the fact he lied to me and said I squeeled my tires to my face was.
Luckily I got him back down from recklass driving to like stop sign or speeding....I mean he offered me a few offenses to choose from atleast. I guess that was nice of him.
Shit the only way that grand am I had as a kid could squeel is if I did a 90 degree turn at 50 MPH or so...I could get the tires to spin in the rain on a hill sometimes if I floored it, but....you don't make much noise in the rain.

First off fuktard did I say I answered any of those questions he asked?NO I did not.
Second Yes I followed up on what happened (pardon me for leaving it all out).
Third I never said anything about sueing the Dpt. BUT yes expected an apology.
Forth My The relevance of my post was to show that cops are assholes and think they can do anything they damn well please.I was just saying yes to follow up on it as I feel he was violated.
Fifth WTF do you give a shit ,the post wasn't for you.
Sixth I don't take your post personal just because your an asshole doesn't mean I can't post what I want.
