Well, Kylere posted that same pic here, but it was on a Toker thread about sharks and stuff...

I don't care if it's a dolphin....the fact it might be a dolphin would cross my mind *after* I swam back to shore. And I'd be swimming as fast as I fucking can.
I've been in water when a dolphin swam up before...but they made thier presence known earlier, so I already knew what it was...it wasn't just a shadow or a bump against my leg.
Still after seeing dolphins in the water, the fact the water was deep enough for sharks was a thought I did not want to entertain.
They are indeed scarey. I was in the water once about 100 yards out on a pretty flat day, when I spotted a pack of 'em coming towards me, swimming parallel to the beach. The realy freaky part was the amount of water that they move...as the went past about 10 ft from me, I was rocked around pretty good by the wake they created!
Fuck yes they are evil, there are crabs that can shoot barbs with enough poison to kill like 10 people, there are fish that look like rocks that have barbs on their back that will make you feel the worst pain in your life, and kill you. There are hundreds of other deadly, poisonous things in the oceans, many that can come nearly up to the shore, some all the way on to it. Sharks are really one of the least of your concerns...at least you can see them, and if you get attacked and survive they wont leave poison in you to kill you soon after.
yeah, oceans and lake superior scare me, just cause of the unknown deepness, lake superior is scarier tho cause it's colder (35*F-41*F) and it has wicked storms with lotsa dead people in it
I think a lot of people afraid of the ocean are really just scared of the unknown. The possibility of something swimming/crawling around their feet shakes them up a little, but that's only natural. Realistically though, the chance of you getting seriously hurt or even dying from some spiny fish or crab is so small, you're almost as likely to get killed by one by going to the grocery store as you are entering the water.
I lived a block away from the ocean in Carlsbad, CA for 15 years. I surfed 3-5 times a week and the worst thing that ever happened to me was getting stung by a stingray. Looking back, it could probably have been avoided if only I were shuffling my feet like you are supposed to.
Actually, I'm more afraid of getting run over by a pointy shortboard than I am of any creature poking/biting me. Now THAT can be painful.
My favorite place on earth is just over the horizon from land, especially at night. Words can't describe it. I've seen 85ft seas in the N. Pacific, it redefines your definition of the word awesome. I wouldn't live anywhere that doesn't have salt water nearby, given any choice in the matter.
The great lakes are much more hazardous in most respects.

yeah im a diver, and the sea life is the last thing you need to fear, most of the bigass fish with big teeth etc are more scared of a metal and cloth and plastic wraped underwater human then you are of it
only thing that can suck though is going down and getting hit by a school of jellyfish when your not wearing awet suit in florida
Really I love the ocean, but there is tons of shit that can seriously fuck you up in there. Most of it is afraid of you \ really rare though. BTW, over the summer I was in Jamaica and got to go on a diving trip...omg if you have never dove, you need to, its the most amazing feeling in the world. Just being totally immersed in water, it feels like you are weightless, it is so amazing.
I'm not scared of the water, I'm just scared of large shadows in the water or an unidentified bump from something large.
As for Asheran, I think water creatures are more venemous because of thier enviroment...it seems water would help cleanse the wound or dilute poison fairly quickly.
Fresh water...I don't think there is much to be afraid of in fresh water. I've never heard of fresh water sharks, jellyfish, sting rays or anything dangerous really. Barracuda maybe? Or pirahna? I don't think they attack people though even if they are fresh water, which I'm not sure of.
Salt water and me..I just don't like it much, I treat it with caution, there are more dangerous creatures in it..but I hate the way I feel afterwards and sometimes it gets in my mouth. If I could surf or something it would be different. I mean hell I don't mind falling off a waverunner in the ocean, I just don't like swimming in it.
And if I see a fin or a large shadow, I'm history...I'd part that sea like fucking moses.
Damn, pretty sure I would void everything in me all over myself. Dolphin or not. I agree, Oceans are evil. Something about stepping a few rungs down on the food chain when I enter the water just does not appeal to me.
I have heard that sharks are afraid of dolphins. I was watching some nature show program that showed the sharks fleeing for their lives whena pack of dolphins showed up.

Sharks and Dolphins have yet to integrate. Yeah, those Dolphins hate sharks! I saw one attacking a shark on "Flipper"!
Dolphins are also cooperative hunters. While sharks will congregate in an area with a good supply of food, I'd hardly call them cooperative.
