What an incredible game for Berlin. My goodness that dude is impressive. I actually hate Miami and I especially hated that faggot ass Dorsey, but this guy convinced me he's the real deal. I wanna see our defense play their offense in the national championship.

Other notes: hahahha Auburn.

notre dame sucks
USC's a good team but their schedule is a joke.
Ohio state will not be #2 for very long if they keep playing like crap
and finally Stoops is the fucking man. Fake punt on 4th and 10 on his own 31.

i wasnt even worried about it when it was 33-10

that is of course because i was absolutley plastered. we were joking outside of the stadium that we hoped it wasnt as close and exciting as the FSU game was last year.

hehe well it was fun =)

holy shit!

as for Florida not getting any breaks, not sure what you mean, Miami had like 150yds in penalties, gave up a fumble for a touchdown, threw an interception deep in their own territory. So both teams had some things go their way. Florida had their share of luck in the 1st half, and Miami in the 2nd.

I have always thought a quarterback rotation was a bad idea, and Zook only reconfirmed that notion.

Strong put the defense into a prevent WAY too early. He was calling base cover 2 with freshmen linebackers against the fastest team in the country.

Ingle getting a concussion sucked, but why Gavin Dickey took even one snap, much less an entire series is fucking beyond me.

One thing that isn't up for debate is that the Gators are for real. I see no reason that we shouldn't beat the crap out of every other team we play this year.

I have to agree with you there. The Buckeyes played awful and were in general poor sports as well.

They were in general outplayed by thier unranked opponent. Hell, Mike Nugent even failed to nail a 28 yard FG attempt after being nearly flawless for the entire last season. Krenzel was off his game as well. I think they were expecting to just have the game handed to them.

As a Buckeye fan, I was relieved they pulled out the big W (thanks to that marvelous 100 yard TD return on an interception, probably the only bright moment in this sad display of Buckeye ball), but I was not proud. I hope the team does a gut check and comes out next week like the returning champions they are.

OSU maintaining their ranking shows you exactly what kind of bullshit the polls are.

they have always been bullshit, and always will be bullshit. As long as the BCS uses weighted poll average as an important indicator as well, it will also be bullshit.

If OSU goes undefeated until the BCS comes out, then they will be number 1 without a question. Also they do play 7 ranked teams this year (as of now anyway) which dwarfs any other team in the top 25.

The only way OSU will be #1 is if Oklahoma loses. I will also guarantee you that the Buckeyes' SOS will decline as the season goes on, just like it does every year.

I'm gonna agree with Voro. The BCS is fucked. Part of the calculation is a vote for fuck's sake. There is no legitimacy at all. College football needs a playoff system badly.

I don't believe for a second that OSU is better team than Miami or even USC, yet they are ranked higher. It's a crock of shit.

And as far as their schedule goes, there are a few teams with tougher schedules. Take a look at Nebraska or Texas A&M.

Not in the BCS. There was the exact same speculation about this last year with Miami being in OSU's position. Evenutally OSU took the 1 spot from Miami after they squeeked by Pitt and lesser teams. But the BCS came out and had them number 1, NOT because SOS or weight or any of that other bullshit, but simply because they have yet to be beaten in the past x (22?) amount of games. They won the title the year before and still held it. Same will hold for OSU. But this is all speculation, there is still a good 6-8 weeks before the BCS even shows face.

And I also second the need for a playoff system.

Although the BCS Council of Presidents decided in July it would not pursue an NFL-style playoff format once the current BCS contract expires after the 2005 season, University of Oregon president David Frohnmayer said Monday that he's convinced there will be some kind of change to the BCS.
I have yet to see a good fucking explanation for this.

well it just depends on whether somebody can put together a proposal that makes enough powerful people rich enough.

its all about the billions of dollars.

we have like 30 small companies (each bowl) that do business with the NCAA. We have ABC who has the big ass television contract. We have the big time title sponsors (Nokia, Tostitos, Fed Ex, etc) for the major bowls, we have the Universities. We have the NCAA itself.

Anyways, there are lots of people looking for pieces of that big a$$ pie. Who knows how it will shake out =).

but i think it will be about what scenario makes the most money long before it is about what scenario makes the most "sense" for deciding a champion.

how amazing would an 8 team playoff be?

They could run a 32 team playoff in the amount of time it would take to do all the bowls. You figure there is roughly 4-5 weeks between end of season and the Championship bowl, if all the teams play once a week they will be down to the final two by then. The time frame works, but like Voro said, money is always the factor.

An 16 team playoff is a very viable scenario, in terms of time needed.

There has to be at least two weeks between the end of the regular season and the beginning of the playoff to allow for conference championship games. There also should be a week between the semis and the finals.

The Rose, Sugar, Orange, and Fiesta Bowls would rotate the final, semis, and the top seed quarterfinal, with the bowl that had the title game one year being bumped down to the quarterfinal the next.

IMO, it's not the logistics that are holding this up. It's getting the Bowls to change their payouts. ATM, the Rose Bowl pays out $13.5 million, while the Orange, Sugar, and Fiesta pay out $12 mil. to each team. They'd have to agree to payout based on their position in the playoff.

This is a big issue for the bowls because they are used to keeping a large share of their advertising revenue, ect. and don't like the idea of having their prestige marginalized.
