dot.Hack Project!

If there are any RPG enthusiasts around here who like Anime, MMORPG's, compelling storylines and games with OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of depth, thought and effort put into them please check out the entire dot.Hack Project.

It started off as an Anime series about a boy "stuck" in a virtual world, a little bit like Everquest, but in this one you actually log in with some VR goggles and a controler to get that TRUE feeling of immersion.

Then they came out with games, there will be 4 in total once all of them are out. For now, unfortunately, there are only 2 of them out, i'm actually almost done with the second one now and the 3rd and 4th installement will be out by the end of the winter if i am not mistaken.

Anyways i really enjoyed this game and if some of you want to check out what the games and the Animes look like because, they actually have 2 anime series of episodes that explains the story behind the games.

1 Serie is out on DVD, most of the 26 episodes and the other comes with each game you buy for the PS2.

I almost bought part 2 but claritin has part 1 and told me that I should borrow it before I buy the second one, especiallysince unlike most console RPGs your character actually carries over to the next game.

And Yes the other two will be out soon...

Outbreak is due in August.
Absolute Encirclement is due out in November.

I thought it was entertaining (especially the story), but the gameplay wore thin pretty quick. I do want to play the next one tho

Also, I thought the animation in the show that came with the game was nice, but it got pretty boring. Can anyone tell me if the actual series is any good?

Oh I can borrow it from Claritin, I just have to wait for Pottamina to return it.

When I'm done withit then it will probably go to zergs for a stint hehe.

Dangermice have like a game trading network hehe...

Yeah i actually rented them hehe...

But i wanted to buy them to get the Free anime dvd bonus about dot.hack/Liminality The story in the real world about a girl who wakes up from a coma induced by the game and finds her friend still in a coma..
(The video store was'ent renting the bonus dvd with the game, wich i think is a shame considering that this explains more about the actual story behind the game.)

And i also wanna check out the dot.Hack/sign animes they look really nice.

I played thru the first one and the second one i got stuck b4 the netslum cuz i was missing like 3 virus core F, so i had to go in dungeons but my rent was over so i guess ill have to rent it again to finish it off.

Luminality, that's what it was.

Nice animation, but it bored me - and they didn't show any of The World. shrug. I still want to see .hack//sign and no one has commented on it yet.

I though the game was decent but the leveling process got boring as hell because it always seemed like I was re-entering the same place. The sub-worlds were too damn similar.

My other complaint is that you joined up with other "players" that the comuter controlled and gave personalities too... at first I thought it was a neat concept... and often very humorous... BUT...

1 of the charectors is a loot whore
1 of them I think was a guy pretending to be a chick
1 of them was a Role playing old-english speaking 14 yr old faggot
1 of them was chasing after the guy pretending to be a chick
1 of them was just plain stupid.

Basically I am saying that the computer tried it's damn hardest to make me put my own party members on /ignore which in .Hack wasn't possible.

My other problem was the end boss was WAY too difficult when I encountered him... I mean I litterally stumbled upon him by accident thinking I was nowhere near the end but accoding to all the forums I read afterwards I found out I WAS at the end! So anyways I ran into him and got my ass handed to me post-sodomization in like 2 rounds.

I think Game power progression should be linear... not spastic where you die in 2 rounds have blissfully exping in the same zone with no issues right outside that room. I figured I was on my way to maybe a small mini-boss or something.

Oh well, the dialog could be worse I suppose: Golden Sun....

I saw .hack//sign on cartoon network, and it's what prompted me to but this game last month. It's set entirely within "The World" and revolves around this character who cannot log out.

I've finished the second game in the series, and while Infection was better (more interaction with the other characters), Mutation definitely didn't suck.

Well, I just finished .hack Infection, and it was pretty good, but I agree with Claritin about most of what he says. The levels are too the same, and the play is kinda repetitive at times.

Just for fun though I want to see if I've got em right...

Ahh I thought it might have been Mistral, because whenever you get to town in part I, she's always talking about "Items! Items!!"

I'll pick up Part II probably after I finish Grandia Xtreme, and Disgaea.

I rented it twice so far... the Outbreak one..

Those goblins really piss me off!

I havent finished it yet ive been slacking and catching back on movies.

But it is nice you get to add Balmung and Wiseman to your parties and stuff the story is fun to follow and play thru.. imho

There's more movies and cutscenes in this one, as well as more hidden dungeons with cool stuff and the 1337 phantoms quest. Definitely better than part 2, but the dungeons and combat are still a bit repetive.

Meoooooow! is teh fucking own!

I gave up on teh goblins. Running down 3 of the little buggers that have like 99 magic evasion and defense (plus they heal each other) made me want to fucking break my controller. The Stehoneys weren't too hard, but the Jonues were not fun at all.
