Say you have a Mustang. It blew its original transmission out, and a new one was put in.

How many transmissions have you gone through?

My answer is 1.

The other method of counting would mean that a new car had already gone through one transmission as it was rolling off the assembly line....and I don't think most mechanics would agree with that.

However....if the old transmission was replaced, and a new one installed, and the new one is going bad, but not replaced yet....then your friend could say you have gone through 2 transmissions....

Well, since they're Mustang owners, shouldn't it be phrased "Done did gone through?"

I would say one because if the first one went out then the car would have been sent to the junkyard unless it was 1972 or older. Then it would of been ebayed.

I'd say one, you're on your second, but unless its one or two year models, I'd drive it into a brickwall before it went out. I'm a chevy guy.

None...

Unless you have been driving your car through transmisions, which I would imagine might scratch the paint, and cause few nicks on the hood...

You went through one transmission....and to have to actually argue with someone whether you have gone through one or two.....someone took a dive in the shallow end of the gene pool.
