Why am I afraid to go to es5.com, like it's a port forward for goatse.cx or something.

i read the site, they got pretty far to insure you that no one can identify you on the network. They continueously refer to the riaa and mpaa as "the evil empire" and things like that. They claim to offer many other services too, dating, chat, forums, phone calls, while I think the service is pretty nice, it does seem just a bit suspicious, i'll wait a little while before I use it.

If it were a front for the RIAA or someone, it would be simplistic to beat in court as it would be entrapment.

Not that I'll be using it or anything.

OK, first off...it's not a re-direct.

Secondly the program does boot and run. It even warns you that some, probably about half the files I look for will be blocked due to my firewall but that is typical of all firewalls.

It has a check for disabling people to scan for my files like Kazaa does.

I have not used it to transfer files though.

Please keep in mind while Palestinians or whatever they are can get away with transferring files, it's because they don't live in the USA. If you live in the USA and use thier program to transfer copy righted material it will still be against the law.

Although like one person mentioned I feel this type of baiting would be considered entrapment.....

However that doesn't mean it is totally secure like they claim.

I left it running in the background to see if any pop-ups occur and they don't seem to be lying there, I haven't had a pop-up in the 2 hours it has been running.

I also can't confirm it isn't some type of trojan because I don't use virus protection, and even if I did...techincally your supossed to shut it down when you install programs or it's likely to screw the install process up.

I've always felt like anti-virus was for people who browse aimlessly, or open any file attachment that comes thier way. Otherwise it does almost as much harm as a virus would heh, reduces sytem preformance, takes up your hard drive and makes pop-ups interrupt your work all the time. I couldn't even install EQ patches with it on. Not many viruses are as troublesome as the protection they make you install against them.

I don't have confidential material, my web browser/e-mail/kazaa machine is a p2-600 heh. Anything on it can be wiped at will I dont care. As a matter of fact I think it's good practice to wipe once every year or so anyway.

So while it looks like a real program keep in mind I'm not guaranteeing it doesn't install a worm heh.

<===File thieving whore.
Heard they have good poRn on that program though, better than kazaa's searchs. *shrug* i wouldn't know, i use Limewire.

But it's still illegal if you download it here, anyways, so really does it matter?

I just don't like the implications that this could pose...

Think about it:

Palestinians have supporers that are terrorists.
Palestinians have now created a file sharing network.

Next thing out of RIAA's mouth (and possibly GWB): "File Sharers are Terrorists and should be tried on treason charges."
