Regarding the accidental shooting of the Camera man...

Have any of you played a first person shoot em up game? I have played many of them. For some damn reason I usually lose because I blow away the innocent fuckers that jump up out of no where in front of the terrorists. Now imagine you are in Iraq where the US troops are being attacked on a daily basis.

Sorry I think it was really poor judgement on the camera mans part to jump out of no where and point what could be mistaken for a rocket launcher at a tank.

Maybe he should have jumped up and shouted or waved a press sign at the tank first? I mean really would the footage that he was taking have gotten him an award or something? I doubt it. Risk vs reward.

Im going to try this without attacking you in a profane way, Kyoukan you are correct if a camera man pointed a camera at you and you shot him you would more then likely go to prison. Now if a camera man pointed a camera while bolting out of his car in a known war zone where friends and fellow workers have been killed you more then likely would not go to prison.

In this instance since you seem to be having trouble focusing (see the thread on Ritalin) he was shot in a war zone. If the camera guy had lowered the camera to a non threatening posture I am sure he would still be living today. The fault unfortunately lies at the feet of the dead journalist.

Walk out your front door with a cigarette lighter that looks like a gun and see what happens. At the very least you will be approached by the cops with weapons drawn and issued a warning. In a time of war it is generally understood to shoot first and ask questions after. It aint no crumpet and tea party over there.

We lost two in one battle on the Euphrates, I could do a google search if you would like. There were no crew casualties. Most M1's lost are from friendly fire. Lost due to freindly fire is quite a bit, lost to enemy fire is only a handful.

Oh I also remember one tank getting sniped and it going head over into the river. I cant remember if it was recovered or not. Only one Abrams that I know of has ever been totally destroyed and beyond salvage, all of the others were repairable, but were still considered destroyed.

So in closing, you are still wrong on your ascertion that only one abrams has been lost in battle.

Quite a few disabled in the earlier Gulf War, but apparently none destroyed. It's a good platform.

BTW, this has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not you allow someone to fire a shoulder-mounted weapon at your tank. You would have to be a damned fool to allow such a thing outside a test range.
