What a fucking trip.... always read about shark attacks, but never 10 mins from my house. People are pretty freaked out, and Im sure for a tourist based economy....this does not bode well.

Hasn't been an attack around here for like 46 years. Sorry if you dont care, I just find it fucking scary (Especially after watching Discovery's channel's Sharkweek all week) :)

Even augmented with fins, we naked apes move several steps down the food chain the second we step into salt water.

I live in Huntington Beach, and the water isnt anywhere near warm enough to warrant sharks in the area, especially ones that could kill a human being. Is the water that much different in SLO?

I've always been very scared of sharks, which is odd since I live in Michigan. I'll take the Great Lakes over the Oceans any day of the week!

cold water is what will attract the big sharks like Great Whites. Not the water temps themselves, but the food.

The colder the water, the more dissolved oxygen.
The more dissolved Oxygen, the more plankton
the more plankton the more little fish
the more little fish, the more big fish
the more big fish, the more REALLY big fish :p

Don't know where you are getting your facts from but the largest of the maneating sharks love cold to temperate waters. So the next time you are swimming and you think the water is too cold say hello to the Great White Shark.

Did the shark have a laser beam attached to his head?

If not then what is so scary?

Makos are pretty aggressive, and get big enough that they really aren't afraid to bite anything that looks like a meal. I get out of the water when they're cruising around the boat. My buddies have lost quite a few fish bags to big makos when coming up off the bottom.

Bull sharks aren't too bright, and hang out in murky water. They also get big enough to be willing to bite just about anything that looks remotely edible. Swimming in the middle of Tampa Bay during late summer isn't the best idea.

Ninety divers have been attacked off the shores of the USA representing 25.6% of all attacks against divers world-wide. So sir I submit that you are wrong.
