1) Add more Heinz ketchup - yes, it must be Heinz, and you should add 1/3 the amount of base BBQ sauce you are using.
2) Taco sauce (not salsa) - I prefer to store up a bunch of the "hot" variety from Taco Bell...but any will do, just don't use the ones with veggies in them. Add 1/4 the amount of original base BBQ sauce.
3) Varios fresh cut onions and peppers - This is personal preference, and you can always just put these right on the meat on the grill, but I prefer them to be in the gravy.
4) Hot sauce - Tricky one. I suggest using "Louisiana" brand, or "Crystal" brand. Both, you are thinking, are too damn cheap to be a good hot sauce. Well, when adding to a thick recipe like the above, these watery hot sauces mix very easily into the fray. Add amount based on your personal tastes.
5) Dried peppers - Add to taste all the peppers on your spice rack. I have about four, and usually put a little chili powder in as well.
Ok, that's it, and it is damn easy to make if you shortcut on the BBQ sauce. If you don't want to shortcut, then find one of the 5 million BBQ sauce recipes on the web and make from scratch.
This is obviously a bleamin' hot and spicy BBQ sauce, but if made correctly, you will have a nice afterglow of sweet tangyness to it.
Bon Appetit
