Alexander the Great

Post by Bubba Grizz »

2 versions of the same movie are coming out next year in the Fall. I read this in this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly. One movie is being produced by Oliver Stone and the other by Baz Luhrmann.

Stone's version has Colin Farrell as Alexander and Angelina Jolie as his mother. Luhrmann's version has Leonardo DeCaprio as Alexander and Nicole Kidman as his mother.

Should be interesting.

My respect for DiCaprio went way up after seeing Catch Me If You Can...I don't like Angelina Jolie though...

Yeah but F Baz Luhrman.
At least Farrell and Jolie have the right colouring for Macedonians :)

Which has the biggest budget though? I good budget will be vital for telling that story and doing it justice.

Strickly Ballroom was very entertaining and different...the other two I didnt care for.

I'm going with Oliver Stone for a grand scale picture like this. I'm not sure about Angela Joilie being in it but Luhrmann's style isn't suited for this and I'm a little tired of seeing DeCaprio's mug.

I'll take a chance on Colin Farrell having a breakthough performance.

Last 2 years of movies...

DiCaprio=Catch Me If You Can, Gangs of New York

Farrel=Minority Report, Phonebooth, Recruit, Daredevil, SWAT, Hart's War

...and you are getting tired of Leo's face?

I like both actors, but Ive just seen so much of Colin Ferrell lately its weird. Damn he must be raking in the cash...

I'll probably watch all of them, the one about Troy with Brad too, he's playing Achilles in it

Hopefully big names won't mess up the story too much, honestly I'd rather see some fresh faces playing Alexander in both movies with bigger names in supporting roles.

and yeah I'm getting sick of Mr. Farrel too lately, all those movies and his real life antics, partying, baby on the way and all, it's like someone's really trying to push his career forward at all cost. I liked him in that western where he played Jesse James, but he could really take some vacation for all I care.

Hmmm, I've only seen Minority Report of the listed movies and he had a small role in that. Maybe that's why I'm not sick of him : )

I just rewatched Titanic and Catch Me if you Can recently. My bad.

Ben Affleck is a no-talent egomaniac. Sorry.

Wait, no I'm not.
