Annoying camps
I'm sitting here camping Lord Grimblox for my clerics epic and thinking "God damn this is an annoying camp" (after 16 straight PH's). Since I'm bored, I thought I'd come here and see what you guys/gals think are annoying camps (Let's not talk about Shard camps, we all know about those). So the question again is....
What is the most annoying camp you can think of? (Shard Camps Excluded)

But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

Pained Soul - Camped it for 30+ hours on and off and said the hell with it. Senolas wandered by and it was up shortly after I'd quit.
Got the rotting skeleton in about 10 minutes, first pop after I showed up. The PH was killed when I got there (Thanks Topper
)
Vessel Drozlin - Was my 2nd to last piece for epic, caught him up about 10 times over the course of a year. He'd always pop just as we were starting something in ToV.

I did my entire VP key in about 1.5 hours or less. Every MoB was up when I arrived. The time was basically spent on travel and finding my way around unfamiliar zones. However, I still haven't gotten the KC guy. I'm pretty sick of staring at all those quest pieces taking up bank space. I should probably do that soon.
My worst camp was while doing the Warden Symbol of Tunare quest in LFay. I was waiting for the necro to spawn. I camped him for 3 weekends in a row.

Without a doubt...
Raster of Guk.
220+ hours camping him and STILL ended up MQing it from a good friend that caught him up while doing some other piece of shit Guk quest.
Very possibly the worst 2 months of my life.

i did him for my druid, fucking 8 hour spawn, finding him uncamped at the time was hard as hell, and even when he did spawn he was hard as hell to kill for my dude at the time, luckily a rogue helped me, cant remember the namemasteen wrote:Dylin Starshine for the Testament of Vaneir quest. Pre-Kunark, it was one of like 5 or so offhand items with 10 wisdom.
I think I camped that fucker for like 3 days straight; it was my first long ass quest.

I didn't think Dylin Starshine was too bad, as he was on a fixed timer. I just had to wait a few hours with the person who was there before me, then after he killed him I just came back every 8 hours or 10 hours or whatever it was. Ended up getting him like 16 hours after my initial camp.

Pained soul
that dam horse in Air for Necro epic, 8 trips to finally get the dam item.
The mob in hate for SK epic item, can't recall how many times RCN had to go and it took many trips to get it, felt bad everytime we went and never dropped.
those spawns suck.
We do our work only to be dispointed.

I'll agree with that. Basically the same thing with me. I actually went more than 15 times waiting for it. Verina Tomb sucked too. -Camping mammoth cloaks in Permafrost (druid farmers are teh suck)
-High Priestess Mitty (for Paw Quest) - because it was so far out of the way
-Grizzleknot in South Karana...for Totemic BP part...I killed Quillman while waiting on this thing (Pegasus cloak was awesome before componentless Levitation spell entered the game) but never managed to kill Grizzleknot after weeks in South Karana....a close second was the Polar Bear in Everfrost caves for Totemic Helm.

Human Ragefire turn-in was the worst for me. Even after I got the spawn window pretty dialed in on the 24hr timer, I'd go there and find other clerics waiting. When I finally had the place to myself, i had another cleric come in and tell me it was a free-for all. First to hit the human rage with the turn-in was gonna win.
To be so close, just have a simple turn-in left.

You forgot the fun that can be had there if you are a human wizard. Put on your Robe of the Keeper, go invis and walk past the spotter. Walk to place where he spawns and then go vis.Fallanthas wrote:Ragefire when he was still in Sol B was a pain in the ass.
Gather the guild, park everyone in the lair, then rotate folks to keep an eye out for a spawn. Rage spawns, start the phone tree and scrounge enough people to make the kill before another guild rolls you.
Blech.
Watch guildchatter saying "Rage POP!!! get here now" and see groups of the guild porting out of all sorts of places. Then try to explain you were only playing a joke.

Jboots which I never got cos I gave up, and Band of the Arisen Cultist when there would be a waiting list of 14 people ahead of you. I waited for 22 hours for my turn to loot.
Though one person I met there is still a good friend to this day so there's a bonus. But it was weird to upgrade that item, after the agony.

Ancient Cyclopse in OOT. Camped that fucker for a total of 60 hours and did the final stretch of 36 hours in a row. Tons of assholes would just move up and sit next to you too so you knew they are getting set to KS and you couldnt pull Clopses for XP while you did it. When this one fucker basically said he was going to KS me no matter how long I had been there, I just started training cyclopses on anyone who sat near me.
VP key was pretty bad too, having just done that.
Have to say Rage was bad in SOLB, but it was worse in skyfire where anyone could basically KS you and had a port in right in the same damn zone. Last time we did it before it became Cleric McEpic, a certain cleric brought two of his wizard pals and just sat directly behind us and flat out said he was going to KS via double Mana burn. I had extra people spam openning trade windows with the wizards when rage popped and these steamrolling pricks actually petitioned us for it, heh. No camp in the game will ever compare to the collosal ass fuck that was the ragefire camp, with you having to put your entire guild there round the clock and STILL have pricks try and steamroll. Having Tallendor pop in the middle of the camp site was amusing too.

War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .
Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.

ooo around lvl 50 i remember me and adarea camping a "drachnid thyxl" in dreadlands, i got mine in about 5 minutes and we gave up around 16 hours without her leavin with 1
being that toshira the badass had many of my mage epic peices in possession already, i didnt have to do more then a few 2-2.5 hour camps to finish that off, besides that i have always hated camps and quests...lol

I never really had a problem with Verina. I had a problem with Vezzel. I was waiting there with a then lvl 1 iksar monk who was level 6 by the end. (due to boredom)

Lol, last year my guild did this... We were camping Rage in Skyfire, and CT had just moved in, we had been basically camping the spawn for about 48 hours and CT moved in with about 15 people, there was some tension on my guild's part, Saiphos stopped by for a bit, but I planned out this whole thing...Adelrune Argenti wrote:You forgot the fun that can be had there if you are a human wizard. I had Thagin put away any weapons, camp wearing his robe... log out and log back in. We then yelled "RAGE POP!" and had my whole guild run at him... hehe we all got a good laugh as about 15ish CT jumped to attention at the time.

Quillmane, putting an all/all item that is part of a quest for the best magician item (at the time) that is a rare as fuck drop off a rare as fuck spawn (that can spawn anywhere in the zone!) that a level 30 druid can kill in huge ass zone is quite possibly the stupidest idea SOE ever had.
Runner ups would have to include Ancient Cyclops, Ragefire, and any item dropped off that stupid fish Phingel.
Memories like these make me want to play EQ again

Have to agree with Cartalas on this one. Stormfeather was the one mob that ticked me off the most. Didn't feel like doing the other parts till after I got this one. (Well Lodi was done of course)
Was awake for 48 hours straight and never left the computer thanks to people waiting to KS. Then he finally popped and got the kill with a Harm Touch. Won't even THINK about what had happened had I not been an SK. Probably more 48 hour camping over and over again till I was the only one awake to kill him instead of getting KS'ed

I still agree with that, but mostly from stories, and not personal experience. When I camped the raster, he popped after one placeholder. Man, that rocked!Deneve wrote:raster is still teh suck
My personal worst camp was indeed Drezlna for the jboots. A weekend went into it, and I got nothing out of it! I took a one month break after that incident.

Gynok Moltor in Befallen for the platinum ring for Paw of Opolla. He sucks mucho ass.
Also the drake hide peice from Plane of Hate from the Ashenbone drakes. I remember Dalmoth finally started counting the number of drakes he had killed with no hide and it was in the 60-70 range. Considering there was like 4-5 drakes in a full pop of hate thats a lot of hate trips for an epic piece.

Hehe that hide in hate is outrageously rare. I think I was up to like 182 kills before it finally dropped (ended up MQing it to Canalek on principle since I already had better than epic) which alone puts every other epic to shame I think.
