You could even have contests between the different locations going on. Im sure with all the modern technology there are some funs things you could do.
Yeah! Have a "Flash Your Rack/Cack" booth, and at the end we could elect a Ms. Mounds and Mr. Member for every area!

I want this to be a huge event, 5x the size of a Fan Faire.
What would it take to get that many people out somewhere..

Gawdamm, 5x the size of a FF. A concert would be it. And if its in Cali, please do around summer.
[I would pay to see you lock Furor in an enclosed glass cage with all the current EQ Devs.... ]
I wanna see a good rock concert just as much as any one, but if u have a big band there.. then the non eq players will sip in.. and then it will be like any other concert..
as far as the multiple events go.. thats kinda silly cause some people can get it off and go where they want.. so then u will have people missing out of hanging out with all the people they could have if there was only 1.
Making it free is going to boost the number of people that go at least 60%. As far as I know, the main problem why people cant go is the Ticket cost to fly across the country.
Maybe set up a special with American Airlines or something to have ticket cost around $120 dollars. Then hotels with a good price. That alone will bring the people out of the woodworks to come.
Some little ideas for people who go. Allow them to recive 3 free months of eq. First chance at Betas, or free LoDN or other expansions that soon come out. Its the little perks that make people blink and say "wow cool". Shit allow them to have free server moves, or split accounts for a 20 day period after the event, or free name changing.
I would enjoy checking out the place that eq was made. Allow to tours of the SoE work place of the devs and such for the 3 days or so the gathering is going on.
Since EQ is part of sony, Im sure theres a lot of bands signed with sony that could do a concert. Have a HUGE grand prize full of sony electronics thats worth around 5,000 dollars or something. Make it where the server with the most people there, are the ones in for the running of the main prize, and scale it like that. A bunch of small stuff like CD players or what have you for other servers.
But most of all. A boxing ring!
I wouldnt mind going to a event that has WWE's Divas there either!
You could find a large camping grounds on a lake. Would have to be a pretty large site, but i'm sure you could find multiple camp grounds within a pretty small area which you could fit 10k ppl. The lake is a necessity.
Supply free food, free beverages, etc.
Let everyone come, reserve a campsite possibly over the internet. Bring their own tent or whatnot.
Late nights around a campfire sharing stories with an acoholic beverage of your choice sounds like the ideal situation.
Could set up some kind of "find item Y hidden in location X and recieve price Z" located around the campsites.
Just an idea, enjoy.
The concert idea is fine but you will definately get crowds that don't care about EQ and just want to see the band. If you want more of the "EQ player base" to show up... Then some social event is a good idea. Concerts aren't really social, its more for the music.
Neef is right a big name band really isnt a good idea for an EQ get together.
But if folks are really into the band idea i suggest we do a battle of the EQ Guild Bands. Guilds could put together bands (extra points for really awful EQ costumes) and SOE could offer all kinds of cool prizes in different catagories for the bands. On second thought maybe not im kind of cringing just imaging some of groups people might put together up on stage.

A concert would suck.
I'm not convinced anything would be good for 10K people and EQ. Fan Faires get the job done. They bring together people from servers and they socialize and get to see some EverQuest speakers etc.
I think a few screws might be loose if you think 10K people are going to show up somewhere for an event with SOE sponsoring it. EQ is Online Roleplaying, not a Woodstock event.
Just a thought, but SOE blowing some cash on a few tour buses and doing small events on a Nationwide Tour would serve you better than trying to get 10K all in one place. If I heard that an EQ Tourstop was going to be in Phoenix at a certain location for a day, i'd be going there for that night. 40 Mini Tourstops with EQ is a lot better than one 10K event that really isnt worth travelling to but certainly worth going to if it rolls through your closest big city.
Rojer wrote:Winnow.. they already did that.. Saiphos was apart of it..
Do it again with bigger buses, bigger places and better advertising so we know they're here. I don't recall anything about an EQ stop in the Phoenix Area.
We went San Diego > LA > SF > Seattle > Portland > Chicago > Minneapolis > Cleveland (why?) > Philadelphia > Baltimore > Boston > New York City > Maine

ha! You skipped Portland and did the Gorge instead! =(
How was the tour? It still seems many smaller stops would reach more people than one large one. What type of establishments did you hold the events in at each city?
I do see the potential for big news coverage on a 10K event but I'm still having trouble thinking of something that would pull that many people. Even at the FF in Vegas, people were happy it was in Vegas for the added attractions to keep them busy throughout the night.
Why not make an EverQuest movie...EverQuest saturday morning cartoon (but not cheesy!)...Other than that, all i can think of is something like an MTV Summer House Party but I still don't see 10K showing up.
If you've got big bucks to spend, I'd think putting together an hour show on a major channel for positive publicity of EQ would put your $$'s to good use.
OR...another Idea would be to hold your big EQ event at the same time as a major SciFi/Fantasy Convention and in the same area so you would draw that crowd as well as give people attending the convention more of a reason to travel to that particular city for a weekend.
Yes, held side by side with the AVN awards in Vegas would ensure my attendance.

if you were walking around and you came upon a tulip with tits, would you let it be for the rest of the world to enjoy.. or would you pick it and carry it off to a secluded area to motorboat them?

Ok, to be serious, anywhere in Southern California I'd absolutely go. Vegas, I'd absolutely go. I really like the SoE tour then relocate for a party idea...but having seen the SoE facilities and there modest size, I don't know if that's really a practical idea.
Maybe you could charter a big boat to Catalina and rent the ballroom there and throw a bigass party.
