Don't ever order from these fucksticks.
I placed an order for a motherboard, processor, ram, case, and heatsink/fan - got it in a somewhat timely manner. (FedEx "Home Delivery" sucks... just get ground or air.)
Put it all together, wouldn't work. Tried different RAM (my new ram in different slots, roomies ram in new board, my new ram in her computer (which booted fine). Tried switching power supply. Tried reseating processor. Nothing worked. Called Tyan tech support, tech said it sounded like board was bad after I explained to him the situation and we went though a few checks.
Okay, well I couldn't wait 14 days or so for another board - needed my computer to work so I could work. Went to local store, bought an AOpen (bleh) and dropped the stuff in, and it has been running like a charm.
I (after 3 attempts) finally was able to get an RMA number from KnowledgeMicro, but they want to charge me 15% for a restocking fee. On a motherboard that doesn't work? Give me a break. I've been trying to get in touch with them to see about the fee being waived since the board is defective, and they have been very unhelpful. I've been told I would be called back three times now, which hasn't happened. I've sent 5 or 6 emails which have been responded to with such comments as "Dear Customer, please send package ASAP."
So, they have till 5pm EST to call me back and discuss it with me and if they don't, I'm calling my credit card company and putting a stop payment on the order if I can.
Just wanted to give you all a heads up so you hopefully don't have to go through a similar experience! I shoulda ordered from Multiwave Direct like I usually do. ><

I've been using http://www.tcwo.com for a while now. I pay a bit more on occasion, but I've got someone local to bitch at if anything goes wrong.

Also reading the return policy before ordering from a company is a good idea

Sh1tty policy... I would have had a red flag up after reading that. I personally -always- check reseller rating before dealing with a new company online, if they are unlisted or have too few ratings, I trash the idea of buying from them. What is the warranty on KnowledgeMicro Express products?
All products are warranted for replacement or refund for 30 days from the invoice date except for CPU, memory, and refurbished products. CPU, memory, and refurbished products are warranted for 7 days from the invoice date. After this period, all products must be handled directly by the manufacturer under the manufacturer's warranty

That doesn't apply to me anyway, I called them about RMA 2 days after I received it. The fact that they want to charge a 15% restocking fee on a non-working item is bullshit, though.Paruhdox wrote:Also reading the return policy before ordering from a company is a good idea

wow heh..
i have been dealing with accubyte for about a year now, i wish i had known about that website too, or even checked the better business bureau's website, im not quite sure how this company is still in business, they have so many complaints with the bbb, and their overall rating on resellers is 0.96 -- needless to say, their rating is not surprising at all, reading their comments on resellers made me feel sick, i dont understand how they are still in business doing that kind of sh1t

I've been buying all my gear from mwave.com for a few years, and they're only 40 or so miles from my work, so often times, I will-call the stuff.
Rather than use price scan, or some other bot that finds all my shit at 4 different places, I just go there because,
1. Its 99% of the time, in stock
2. Within 3% of the lowest cost elsewhere
3. They have never given me grief over returning something that wasn't working.
I like to support/refer to companies that do it right, so big props to http://www.mwave.com

I've been using http://www.axiontech.com for a lot of my stuff lately.. usually at the low end on pricewatch for most stuff.. they actually give a decent rate for overnight shipping or 2nd day.. I've ordered 4 motherboards, 4 or 5 video cards, 4 sticks of 512 meg memory and a couple processors so far. never had a DOA yet.
