JOYSTICK IN EQ HELP!!??! SI!!! Anyone use a joystick??

Post by Xaem »

Need to know if anyone's had the same problem as me. I use a Logitech Wingman Attack 2 Joystick and I wanted to either set a button or the Throttle axis to a hotbutton (specifically "2", my archery hotbutton). I want to be able to press a button on the joystick and I want that button to act as though I pressed the "2" key on my keyboard.

So I go to the Logitech website and download the software that ables me to do this and it doesnt work. I press the button on the joystick and nothing happens in game. I configured the settings all correctly and everything and everything -should- work fine.

Will be trying alternative suggestions or ideas in order to get this to work in the coming hours...

On a related topic of sorts, does anyone know if you can use a PS2 (as in playstation 2) controller on a PC? I saw that Madden 2003 for the PC is like half the price of the ps2 game. I'd hate to play it using a keyboard though.

You should be able to get an identical controller to use with your computer, but I doubt the ACTUAL PS2 controller is compatible.

Well I understand that the ps2 controller doesn't interface with the computer but I was looking to see if a controller existed that was.

The Gravis Gamepad Pro looks just like a PS2 Controller. Im going to go exchange this joystick for one of those today, because Im 100% sure that the Gravis Gamepad works, I just wanted to have a much easier access to turbo on/off functions.

Don't try to type when you're using that or you'll just spam your friends with the number 2 :)

I use a Gravis "Xterminator Force." I bound the arrow keys to the directional shift thing... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and 0 to their respective controller buttons, CNTRL on the left trigger button and ALT on the right one.

Basically, it lets you strafe/move, cast 1-5 spells, and use 1-5, 9 and 0 hotkeys.

The limitations are, of course, not being able to type while using it, as well as not being able to look up or down. You could bind page up and page down to two of the buttons, I suppose.

But yes, I've found it really handy for archery. It's a major finger saver as well as a tool that removes the human button-pushing delay.
