The 9800 showing as available on this system is a 9800 non-pro. Basically it is a 9800 pro that is clocked slower. I would say it is probably worth the upgrade, as the Geforce FX 5200 is often substantially slower than even a Geforce 4 Ti. If you're somewhat familiar with installing hardware in a co...

$129 is the normal price for the Audigy 2, not the Audigy 2 platinum. The Audigy 2 doesn't come with the drive bay interface or remote control. Also, CompUSA has the regular Audigy 2 online only this week for $80 (instant rebate, no mail-in hassle). Obviously though this is only valid through tomorr...

Bubba, Those are image files. Kinda like .cue and .bin You'll want to use Alcohol 120% to burn those to cd's http://www.alcohol-soft.com Alternately, you can mount the image to a drive using Daemon Tools. Their main website at http://www.daemon-tools.com seems to be down. But you can probably get th...

Since your two Win2k boxes have different hardware, you can pretty much guarantee that your are getting a software conflict. From reading your post it sounds like you installed quite a bit of software and then some Microsoft hotfixes all in the same reboot. I'll hazard a guess that the problem you'r...

Fash, Cinematic Computing is a marketing term if I've ever heard one. I assume they are talking about the pixel shader capabilities of the GeforceFX. Both the GeforceFX and the Radeon 9700 have DirectX 9.0 compliant pixel shaders. If you look at the Anandtech article they do have the code creatures ...

The GeforceFX 5800 Ultra preorder price is $400. Considering that at the moment it would appear that its lead is a few percentage points at best, the Radeon 9700 pro would be a better value. Most of the major hardware sites have their reviews up now, Anandtech, HardOCP, Tom's Hardware, etc. Another ...

Those subtitles look good. Substation Alpha format is really nice for subtitles, I use it for my own encodes. Normally though, I rip the subtitles to text and convert them to .ssa format. That way they can be edited, color/size/font changed, or whatever. Then use Direct Vobsub for playback in any me...
