NHL Playoffs (yes, it is true!)

Post by Canelek »

Predictions? There have been some really good games this year. I am most excited about Philly (obviously). Coming back from 0-3 in the series to win, and coming back from 0-3 score in Game 7 was pretty masterful.

I am actually hoping for more of last night's wallopping. First home-ice advantage for the Flyers since 1995 I think Crazy.

What happened to San Jose? Kind of hoping for Sharks/Flyers for the cup. That way I can bet $$ with my girlfriends family, who all hail from San Jose.

Good times.

In addition to being painful to read, that doesn't really make sense.

I'll translate for you, Miir:

"We, the citizens of Montreal, surrender. As you can see by our advance-scout hockey team, once we realized the might we were up against, we humbly and meekly lay down."

Hope that helps. :)

They looked awful at times in the previous two series but somehow managed to win.
Not a Habs fan by any stretch but they've put togther a pretty awesome run this year.

Yup. They had a very nice run. Series is not over yet, but watching the game last night in the 3rd period, they had no fight whatsover in them, aside from a really nice penalty kill and a couple good shots that were swallowed by a fill-in keeper on a tremendous roll. :)

I just plugged various versions of "TIS THE YEAR OF THE FILTHY FRENCH" into babel fish, and picked the translation with the most accents and other strange symbols in it.

The season is over, what are you talking about? It was over when Detroit got bounced in 5. (kidding)

Hoping Montreal can pull it out and make a series out of it, though. Their last two rounds were nothing short of spectacular.

I was amazed at how Halak played but I hate the Habs and want them out ASAP. I hate Ovechkin for failing to perform that duty in the first round:p Hopefully the bubble has burst and all the blowhard Hab fans will be silenced for a while.

I'm looking at Chicago and wondering if this is their year. Neither series is over but 2-0 leads, and especially Chicago's which was gained on the road, can be a pretty big deal. I've always hated Nabokov in the playoffs (yes Trek, sometimes he plays well and he's not the only post season under performer in San Jose but he sticks out the most because of his position)and he hasn't played well for them, while at the other end Niemi has looked like a seasoned playoff performer and not the rookie he is. It would be cool to see the Blackhawks win it all...

Gooooooooo Blackhawks!

They did decent last year. I hope they take it all this year. It's pretty cool watching a great franchise crash and burn, then rise from the ashes again.

The NHL should market itself as the Soccer of Canada.....maybe that will at least get the rest of the world to watch it.

Fun fact.

Hossa is the first player in the NHL to go to the finals with 3 different teams in as many years.

changed the channel just in time to see the Cup awarded to Chicago. That was all the hockey I needed to be exposed to for the year. I usually try to at least catch some of the playoff games, but I couldn't make myself watch any this year.

Really? Sausage, the staple of Chitown food, is horrid horrid meat.

Don't mind the deep dish on rare occasions, but I'll take a regular slice almost any day of the week.

Grats to the BH's as if they give a shit what I think heh. Hate philly and their fluid excreating fans. Nothing like a stadium full of idiot meatheads silenced.

What a weird goal there at the end, but congrats to Chicago on ending their drought. Great playoffs this year, lots of good games. (Except for the 4 that Detroit lost to San Jose in.)

That goal was fantastic. It was such a crazy angle. Kane was the only one who saw it go in. Even the goal light was delayed. It was crazy because he was the only one celebrating while all the players and crowd were still looking for the puck. It even took the announcers time to realize it was over.

1:00 minute mark shows what a great goal that was. The hole must've been puck sized!
