Fixed. And yes. Presidency is 4-8 years. Living with a pissed off black woman is for life - and not a good life either.

He's intelligent enough to know that adding Hillary to the ticket would insure a loss. He's also intelligent enough to know that if he did that, all his talk about 'Change' would be out the window as well because Hillary represents everything bad he is saying needs changed.

Haven't you heard? Guns are the only thing stopping a dictatorship. Those thugs with guns would stop the National Guard in it's tracks, no problem. The National Guard wouldn't stand a chance.

I think in the perfect Utopia, everyone would have a gun. More guns is a great solution to everything, especially if they are easy to hide and are designed to kill lots and lots of people clay pigeons and paper targets.

And no, Hillary will not be VP.

You know...you really are a moron Fairweather. I am glad you live in a dream world where everyone is happy and cuddles like a group of care bears, but I see people that have no moral compass or value to society that are a serious issue and your stance is that an inanimate object is the bane of all existence. Why don't we start by disarming the police and then all the happy people can follow suit?

Exactly. Death penalty for drug kingpins? Like they don't already live with the chance of being blown to bits every day? If anything, executions are more humane...

The preventative effect of capital punishment has - as far as I know - never been proven.

I have always and will always support the right of rednecks and gangsters to cling to their guns and their god because these rights were given to them in the constitution. I overlook the fact that these acts represent a serious psychological insecurity which these people will never have the intelligence to understand. Despite kilmoll's complete ignorance as to how ilfuckinglogical his arguments are, his trump card is the constitution which I agree with him on. As I said before, I don't agree with Obama on every issue, but he is infinitely better than the the dinosaur the GoP is offering.

You don't need to disarm people, just control your supply chains and weed out the slimeballs selling guns to Omar (can't believe a kid took him out!!). Currently crime is a profit driver for gun manufacturers down there. Canadian gangs get their guns from the US.

Constantly. I despise typos and unfinished sentences and often catch them right after I post. Especially if I hop around when editing. What is wrong with that? It's not backpedaling to clarify or edit your post. The written word is not the spoken word, you have time to ponder, revise and reorder thoughts and arguments.

Back on Topic: Why is Clinton still in the Democratic Race? Obama has her beat soundly and there's no math that would change that. Obama should use this point when he discusses how we should stress science and mathematics for our education system.

Except w/ him that's not it. He will make a post that's like 3 words long then edit it and change it to be a big paragraph, or he'll make a big long post then edit it and make it two words...

I just think it's funny, I've been criticized for not thinking out what I say before I post, and even I think things out better than that most of the time :)

Was just pointing out something I thought was amusing.

And?

Everyone stumbles over their words at times. Obama, overall, is a brilliant speaker, whether scripted or improvised like in these clips. He's better composed, more eloquent, and more inspiring than the other candidates. Bush is so far out of Obama's league in this regard that it doesn't even warrant comparison. Cherry picking a stray misstep hardly proves anything, other than what we already know about you.

Obama does uhm and ahh a lot. But when people will take this:
JG: Do you think that Israel is a drag on America's reputation overseas?
BO: No, no, no. But what I think is that this constant wound, that this constant sore, does infect all of our foreign policy. The lack of a resolution to this problem provides an excuse for anti-American militant jihadists to engage in inexcusable actions, and so we have a national-security interest in solving this, and I also believe that Israel has a security interest in solving this because I believe that the status quo is unsustainable.
And turn it into this:
"Israel is a critical American ally and a beacon of democracy in the Middle East, not a 'constant sore' as Barack Obama claims. Obama's latest remark, and his commitment to 'opening a dialogue' with sponsors of terrorism, echoes past statements by Jimmy Carter who once called Israel an 'apartheid state.' It's another sign that Obama is part of the broken Washington Americans are rejecting."

I don't have a problem with it either. I just to make sure you see the bits the pieces you won't see on the Obama TV Networks. He is human. McCain is human. Bush is human. I don't think Obama has a chance at winning in November. If I'm wrong, I'll back him 100%. I won't be thrilled with his liberal philosophies, but I won't blame him as much as I blame the philosophies and his party.

Obama has been forced to play up his Christian beliefs because of the whisperings of the "he's a Muslim" crowd. Criticisms of Bush's religiosity have largely been due to his Faith-Based Initiative, his overt pandering to the religious right, and the fact that he wears his faith on his sleeve. Let's not forgetthe fact that he says things like "god told me that this is what I should do," a little too frequently for many people's comfort. That's a pretty significant difference from Obama having to reassure nervous fundamentalists that he doesn't believe in the "wrong" religion. This is a game that all candidates are forced to play, to a certain degree, so I won't begrudge him for giving a deferential nod to the faithful of the country. If he ever crosses the line into rabid fundamentalist territory (like G-Dub), I'll worry.

Personally, I'd prefer it if a candidate's faith was not an issue, but so long as such a large portion of the electorate insists upon it being an issue, there's no way to avoid it.

LOL. Awesome. Bush was bashed for embracing his christianity. Do you folks feel the same way about your man Obama?
Yup.

Edit: I see Xatrei's point. I'm just used to religion free politics (but way shorter and boring) here.

I "bashed" Bush for his "Christianity" because it seemed to me that he Got Religion around the same time he Got Political Ambition and because born again Christians freak me out - no zealot like a convert, and all that. I have no opinion on Obamas faith, haven't looked into it at all.

If Obama's administration doesn't believe in Evolution, restricts stem-cell research, preaches abstinence-only sex education or any of the other religion-based nincompoopery foisted upon us by the Bush administration, yes, I'll criticize him for that.

I don't think anyone on these boards has a problem with someone being religious. The problem is with religious people trying to force their beliefs on others.

If you truly believe in your religion, then evolution cannot be.
Stem-cell research has only been limited to non-embryonic. Science has shown they can do quite well without embryonic.
The school system don't preach abstinence only sex ed. They assume all kids will have sex and let them know about birth control and even provide it in many schools.
The faith based social services plan Bush put forth, did no harm. It only rewarded those service agencies who happened to be faith based.

Any other concerns?

This is a retarded statement. There is no passage anywhere in the Bible that says that evolution does not exist. It is the interpretations of humans that throws their own shit into the mix that says that.

I respect Obama's religious background and faith, but fear Bush's. Obama is the guy I work with that happens to go to church but I would never know it, and Bush is the guy that dosen't shut the fuck up about it and wants to change the world based on his beliefs. It's preacher vs evangalist. The preacher is a tool for god, the evangalist is using god as a tool.

I don't forsee Obama's faith playing a large part in public policy.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that first sentence. While I'm too lazy to use the search function to cite specific examples, I can think of several times where Nick, Winnow and the "atheist intellectual elite" (like being mentioned in the same sentence guys?) mocked anyone who believed in a higher power and even started threads specifically for that that purpose.

Maybe amend that to "While most people don't have a problem with religion, they usually have a problem with zealots" and I would agree, and place myself in that category (and that includes zealots of atheism, I really don't give a shit if you believe in God or think all religion a delusional crutch for the weak minded, get off your fucking high horse shitheads).
