Homophobia is just another form of prejudice. The ONLY reason there needs to be male/female couples is to produce and raise offspring. There is nothing that says all humans must copulate and produce offspring.

I could care less if everyone was gay and we grew babies in test tubes as long as each individual's right to chose is protected. That includes polygamy. If 100 female consenting adults wish to marry one man or vice versa...so be it...sign the paperwork for the civil union and then hit the church for the non legally binding marriage part of it.

It's sad to see people still so prejudiced. Homosexuals should have 100 percent of the same rights as Hetrosexuals. Children are just another possession like your house or car when it comes to divorce although tagged with much more emotional attachment. As for special benefits for having children, the laws that provide for that don't have to include marriage at all but can be included as part of the civil union code. The only thing the government needs to be involved in is providing the documents necessary to handle deaths (estates), separations, children (if male/female union).

People aren't going to change just because every american has the legal right to a civil union. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to hit the bars looking to pick up a guy if gays are allowed to marry. It matters not one iota that gays can have the same rights non gays have.

The key phrase to always remember is: consenting adults. As an adult, you should have the right to live your life anyway you see fit that doesn't harm others.

There is no law that forces you to fuck the opposite sex and pop out kids. Watching two lesbians go at it gets me all hot and bothered while if I had to watch two gay guys going at it I might lose my lunch but either way, both have the right to do what they wish.

When I hear the argument that it's nature's way that we should copulate and have children...it's also natures way that we live in the wilderness naked eating berries without polution and survival of the fittest...anyone with bad eyesight should be shot I suppose as they would be dead in a purely "natural" state without all this evil technology.

I will argue that denying homosexuals the right to equal civil unions is the same as denying a black person a seat on the bus or the ability to drink from the same water fountain as hetrosexuals.

I was watching Face the Nation like a week ago and Kerry's campaign manager said in no uncertain terms that Kerry supports the constitutional amendment. I am not making this shit up, he said it.

Then you either misheard his campaign manager or he mis-spoke, because Kerry has stated time and time again that he doesn't support an amendment banning gay marriage.

The four-term senator has said he supports civil unions and equal protection for gays and lesbians but that he opposes marriage for them. He also said he believes the matter should be decided on the state level.

Civil unions grant couples most of the rights of state civil marriages, except the name, but provide none of the federal benefits of marriage, such as Social Security benefits.

"All Americans should be concerned when a president who is in political trouble tries to tamper with the Constitution of the United States at the start of his re-election campaign," Kerry said in a statement.
