How Bush could not trail anyone amazes me. It's like trying to push for Berlusconi extension to EU presidency.

Well put. Any poll between Bush and any Democratic candidate is meaningless at this point. 90% of attention has been on the Democrats as they go through they're primary process. Hell, I think Mondale led Reagan at this point in the race, and look how that turned out.

Polls like this won't be relevant till after both parties have their conventions. That's when the entire electorate (or at least those that will actually VOTE) start paying attention and decide. Remeber, just a few short weeks ago Dean had the nomination all wrapped up.

Trinak is pretty much right on.

One thing i will say though is that the GOP is paying attention to the story. That is why in response to the DNC's comments about Bush's military service, they leaked the false story that news agencies were investigating marital infidelity to Matt Drudge (who is widely known to be a GOP operative). Then of course news agencies see on Drudge that news agencies are investigating Kerry's "affair", so they start investigating his "affair".

GOP probably wanted to save this little bit of nastiness for later in the year, but they are clearly on the defensive. And while they have time on their side, they are not taking it for granted that their numbers will recover. Which is smart, because that is how you lose.
