sorry to break it to you but when I stumble into my hotel at 10:30 pm after being up since 4 am I just want some decent food and drop into bed
I'll save the Zagat's for the longer layovers
since I'm getting on a plane the next day there is just no way I am going to risk feeling a little off if you know what I mean - the pressure at 37000 feet makes that MORE than a lil uncomfortable
I live in NYC - I know tons of great restaurants!
lay off already anyway - if you don't like the thread don't read it - simple

So you would go to a pizza hut instead of a regular pizza parlor? Seriously, how much more effort is that? Probably more as there is no shortage of pizza joints.CalandraWindrose wrote:sorry to break it to you but when I stumble into my hotel at 10:30 pm after being up since 4 am I just want some decent food and drop into bed
You go to different places all of the time or the same 5 or 6? Anything sink in during that time or do you just wander around aimlessly?I'll save the Zagat's for the longer layovers
Not sure what that means, but if you're implying your stomach will feel better after eating at pizza hut than a regular pizza parlor, i'd say you're full of shit.since I'm getting on a plane the next day there is just no way I am going to risk feeling a little off if you know what I mean - the pressure at 37000 feet makes that MORE than a lil uncomfortable

I fly to over 100 destinations - you think I should take along a Zagat's for them all?
You have your opinion - I have mine. I promise I'll never make you eat at Pizza Hut
dunno where that came in I never mentioned any specific restaurants - my point was knowing what you are getting versus taking a chance on excellent or shit

Well Calandra, if it makes you feel better, the intelligent posters understand what your saying.
Thank you and have a WONDERFUL day.
I don't think she specifically mentioned that, but if she had...she wouldn't be full of shit. Please see the original post on this thread regarding the pizza I ate that had a dairy suprise on the top. For the lactose intolerant such as myself something like that can and will cause digestive problems.Chidoro wrote:Not sure what that means, but if you're implying your stomach will feel better after eating at pizza hut than a regular pizza parlor, i'd say you're full of shit.

The whole thread is about pizza hut. I'm sorry you didn't follow along.
You use a laptop for work or do you just scribble notes on you hand? If the former is true, might I suggest the cryptically named http://www.zagat.com

This thread is not about Pizza Hut - I believe the pizza the thread started on is from Domino's no?
and no I don't have a laptop to take with me for travel - wish I did

It was about Domino's then you (Chidoro) mentioned chain establishments, then Sueven talked about chain restaurants in general and we all flowed with it.
The thread has evolved....It is no longer restricted to pizza. And if it was, it wouldn't be pizza hut.
Also just because you have a laptop doesn't meant you can jump on the internet....some of those places are hard to get a modem connection from, if you even have dial-up with a local number. And then a couple times in places like new york the hotel came back to me with $0.35/minute local phone charges for over $100 because I logged on the internet...now I'm halfway scared to touch the damn hotel phone so I use my cell phone.
Again I stress if you travelled often enough, you would know this shit.
Also just because Zagats says it is good, doesn't mean you will like it. Do you trust all the video game reviews as well?

You really are a dipshit, you do absolutely no planning whatsoever? Seriously, stop trying to come off as some pundit of business travel as if you're the only person to ever do it. People plan. Smart travelers plan. Just because you do it a lot, doesn't mean you do it well. I've seen people who play basketball for hours each week yet they still suck at it. I consider your travel skills the same way. Also just because you have a laptop doesn't meant you can jump on the internet....some of those places are hard to get a modem connection from, if you even have dial-up with a local number. Just to clear up a few things although I'm sure they are going to be misinterpreted in the tangled head of yours:
I have traveled for work
I worked in Manhattan for over five years so don't try to "out NY" me as you just come off like even more of a dolt
I am not fat
You are incoherent at best/idiotic at worst

So were about tied in NYC experience then.
Some people don't like to plan. Planning isn't necessary. Once in a while it's nice...but most plans will in fact get fucked up.
I book my plane ticket and my hotel....sometimes a rental car depending on if I'm downtown. After that I play it by ear.
Do you realize your actually researching what your going to stuff in your mouth hours in advance? Doesn't that strike you as a little....much? Is life supossed to be that fucking complex where you have to research shit on-line a week in advance before you eat? That's not my style.
I like my life simple. I guess we are different that way. I'd rather spend 5 more minutes in a hot shower, or sleeping....or anything other than researching stupid restaurants on the internet in a city I don't even fucking live in.
Oh and FYI, I said you mentioned Chain establishments...and your quote supports that. I said Sueven took it to chain establishments in general after that...and then it continued to flow from there.
But thanks for your lack of reading comprehension, it makes my job easier.

I'm going to bridge the two most active current threads here to illustrate that an accurate description is not always an insult. It could just be an accurate description. Check out the following:Pilsburry wrote:Yes Verbose isn't normally an insult, unless it comes out of a mouth of someone who generally spews only insults. Like if any one of Teh fnord said it...it's probably an insult.
So I still stand by the fact it was a quick jab, because I've dealt with her before.
Pilsburry wrote:Just as a warning....
Domino's has some cheeseteak pizza on special right now they plugged when I called up so I gave it a shot...
They pour all sorts of some dairy product liquid on top.....the box was not designed to contain liquid.
The liquid is dairy, more so then cheese....so if your lactose intolerant that's reason #2 to not get it.
And the liquid has onions and peppers floating in it.
Let's see half cup of dairy product with liquid pepper and onion stink....yeah my passenger seat is going to smell real fucking nice.
Maybe they did make it wrong, there was a LOT of that suce stuff on it.
And like I said it tasted good....just my passenger seat was a mess, and it for sure had some dairy in the sauce....because I hadn't eaten anything else but a granola bar and banana all day.
As for chain restaurants, man....if it works...do it.
If you have a restaurant that people love, you did it right.
If you think you could open up another one...exactly the same and make money...go for it.
I like the fact I can fly to chicago...and drive down any decent size road and find someplace where I KNOW the restaurant. Sometimes you don't feel like gambling....your really hungry, it's late, everything is about to close...your in a hotel room and you WILL NOT get food elsewhere if you don't find something now.
Knowing that I can cruise into a olive garden or TGIfridays etc lets me control my stress level a little.
I know, thier quality is usually not as high as a good local family owned restaurant....but good local family owned restaurants are hard to find when your out of town on business.
Anyone who disses chain establisments has definately never travelled on a regular basis.
----------------------
FYI the Penn Station here is prety decent, even though it's a chain. No it doesn't use the original Cheezwhiz.
Also don't diss american's cheesesteaks. Do you kow why they call it a Philly cheesesteak? I'll give you a hint...it wasn't invented in fucking canada. Nothing ever is.
Hey, I go up to people working at the hotel or ask my clients what is good locally fairly often. Sometimes even just people in the street.
I just can't ask a girl on a date.
Anyway, like Calandra said....sometimes you get out of a client at 8pm, your tired you were on a plane all last night. You still have to figure out how to get to the hotel etc...
And while you could ask the client....maybe you really don't want to talk to them anymore and your afraid they will ask you to come eat with them somewhere and they will talk business until 10pm now and you can't eat your freaking meal.
Your not to the hotel yet. You come out the front of the building and get in a cab....cab driver asks "where to boss?" And your reply is what? Your options are to ask for a chain you know of....or ask for the cab drivers opinion. Now I've asked cabbies for thier opinion before, sometimes they were right, sometimes they weren't.
But when you ask anyone anything about food you have to understand....people have different tastes...some people like coke, others pepsi..yadda yadda yadda. If you ask a complete stranger what is good, he will tell you what he thinks is good, not what you thinkis good. And maybe those will match, maybe they won't. Maybe it will suck real bad but his friend owns the place. The chances you get a good restaurant from a complete stranger are higher then just randomly guessing, but less consistant then a chain restaurant and it requires more work after a long day.
Anyway it's obvious Chidoro doesn't travel on business. Not that that's a bad thing, I wish I could avoid it myself.
No, I take chances on food...I also said more than what you give me credit for. I made pretty quick points in that post. Your just unable to see the points.
And by saying you don't travel on business I don't mean to say you have a shitty job....you could be have a job as a brain surgeon or rocket scientist, or a million other respectable occupations.
I just don't think you travel on business vey often. I remember one month where I was only home 4 days....and they were like saturdays when I came home to unpack, do laundry, and re-pack for a new destination. Now that wasn't that common...but 5 days a month was pretty common.
Sometimes your tired and not in the mood to hunt down a new place. An intelligent person could see that valid point and accept it as a logical reason for chain restaurants. But not you Chidoro...not you.
I agree with you that the best restaurants are typically not chain restaurants....I'll also point out that most bad restaurants don't get to be chains either. In otherwords quality from local places is less consistant.
And when your on the road....that's the worst time to be adventurous. You can't go home and grab some crackers because you didn't finish the shit they served. And even if it is a good place.....when is the next time your going to go there? It's like wasted effort...I'd rather be adventerous at home...learn MY area.
Also I should point out, food is just gas for humans. It's not something you should dwell on so much where your entire day revolves around putting food in your mouth. I don't spend an hour deciding what gas station to go to.
I hate that cheesy crust stuff from pizza hut. I don't know what type of cheese that is, but it makes me ill.
The thing about mom and pop pizza joints if often thay are overly greasy...like dripping all down your face and on the plate and everywhere. Especially in NYC..
But yeah as far as pizza places go, I have no problem ordering from the closest place...local or whatever. If I saw one close on the way to the hotel, I'll probably call that one. I can cope with excess grease..I just let it drip dry or grab a towel.
It's other places where you end up getting seated and looking at the menu and see it's all asparagus this, mushroom that, salmon, trout etc..and everything is like $25 and up. And you already got a cab drove out there, waited for a table and sat down...
I mean if I *like* a client and I'm pretty sure he is going to be cool and not talk about work all night and end up adding more work to my plate, then by all means I'll ask him what's good locally, and I take thier advice, I actually like it if a cool client comes with me...because I don't like eating alone in restaurants (and the quieter the retaurant the worse it is).
The best meal I ever had was at some Jamacian restaurant right off times square. I got some sort of lime chicken. If anyone in NYC reads this, it was I think down the side street next to the MTV building (that's where I was stationed that week). It was maybe 2 blocks down really really small on the left side I think. That was a couple years ago though, restaurants in NYC normally last like 6 months.
That's just the first page of this thread, people can see for themselves how this page has progressed. Please avoid defending yourself against the charges of verbosity in the future, they are less an insult and more a statement of fact. You want a valid description of NYC pizza?
Larger then normal slices.
Thinner crust...but not "thin crust" like most chains have.
I think they brush the top with oil which is why it's so greasy.
Because of the size of the slice, thinness of the crust, and amount of grease dripping off, I prefer to fold it in half when I eat it.
That's NYC pizza from my standpoint.
Also if you knew NYC Chidoro, you would have gone "Oh yeah, I know about where that is" Not "half the city is there"...because NYC isn't 4 blocks big..it's a lot bigger than that. And that particular street, dosn't have much going on...it's big office buildings on each side, so the number of shops on the street level are not that many, because those office building entrances are obviously facing times square.
But thanks for your ignorant input.

I'm not exactly a paragon of detailed organization when I travel, but it seems like a fucking waste to eat at a national chain in NYC when there are 10,000 better restaurants, at least ONE of which won't aggrivate your spastic colon.

being gay doesn't make him a lesser person. Or it shouldn't...
In my experiences, when I make the aquaintance of a gay person (through work or friends, what have you) they are typically far more pleasant, kind and thoughtful than the straight people that I meet in these same situations. They tend to be more judgemental, mistrusting and some of them are just plain mean. I have yet to meet an abrasive gay person. So in general they get my stamp of approval. Find something that matters to pick on people about.

Such a big debate about where people eat. Eat where you want and don't give a shit about where other people are dining. If I'm travelling and in a hotel I'll more than likely go to the closest spot, chain or no chain. In the grand scheme of things it means nothing.

A_Guide, maybe in general, but fesuni isn't a nice or non-judgmental gay person. I think you'll have to agree with me there because before I mentioned her name he said I was a candidate for abortion. That's generally not a compliment....he is also flamingly gay, which usually is just a way to attract attention. Gay is one thing, but pushing it in other peoples face with bare ass avatars or that NWS link in his sig, that's a cry for attention. His mommy and daddy didn't love him enough or something.
Ennia, It depends on how lactose intolerant you are. Most cheese has a lower level of lactose then say straight milk or other dairy products. I'm only moderately lactose intolerant. I could eat 4 slices of pizza fine no problems... But milk and ice cream hit me in much smaller amounts. Basically my reaction isn't a "spastic colon" like masteen or someone said...my stomach will gurgle a bit and I'll fart a fair amount. That's enough of a problem that I like to avoid dairy...especially before a plane ride or a visit to a client. Here you go read this it will back me up... http://www.milkpail.com/lactose.htm
Masteen, I said I sometimes explore, it's just you don't always want to explore....
Everyone, I'm not condemning non-chains at all...all I'm doing is defending chain restaurants existance. And quite frankly I shouldn't have to, because chains wouldn't exist if there wasn't a demand in the marketplace....the fact they thrive and grow so fast proves there is a demand. Do you know what I'm talking about? Economics 101 people. Supply and demand. If there wasn't demand for chain resturants they would quickly go out of business...since they aren't out of business and instead thrive..they grow quickly we all see thier parking lots....there is a wait to get in. So you can assume that when I eat at a chain restaurant, I am not alone, there are MILLIONS of other people eating at chain restaurants the exact same time I do. So can we just agree to the fact that they should exist? Whether you want to eat here or not is mute, because I'm not trying to convince you to.

I don't think anyone does think this. However there is a division between those who think we should try to move global society in this direction (bleeding heart liberals) and those who are happy to accept things the way they are and throw out "fuck it. bomb them so I don't have to think" responses to the world's problems (dipshit redneck warmongering conservatives).I have nothing against gay people, but this bleeding heart liberal tendancy to want to think we live in utopia or Star Trek's Federation, shits me to no end

Technically it is spelled "You are" and abbreviated to "You're" but in actuality it was not the spelling that was wrong, but rather the usage. Are you really in a position to flame anyone? Do you not think I can't sling some dirt your way if I choose? Do you think I hold you in high regard?
But I don't need to flame you, it would be too fucking easy....you have provided everyone here with enough material to last a lifetime.
And what the fuck does me saying your mother should have had an abortion, to spare us the 40,000 word posts you make here about absolutely nothing, have anything to do with you holding me in high regard?
PS: It's spelled YOU'RE, you fucking idiot

It's a picture of a guy by himself holding his penis out. And the title it says you have reached is "Fluffer". Oh and it's not a straight game....most guys start porn in gay porn and work up, the game doesn't specify which type of porn you will be in.Fesuni Chopsui wrote:It's a link to a STRAIGHT porno game; nice try, maybe next time.
Do you know what the fuck a fluffer is? It's the job where you give guys head to maintain thier erections between takes.
Anyway I wasn't trying to throw you anything new....I mean you didn't waste energy devising something new for me, why should I bother wasting my time on a quality response?
Don't worry about it though, I'm glad your gay. Seriously...it helps me sleep better at night knowing there will be no Fesuni spawn.

As for Miir, I know lactose intolerance, because I am lactose intolerant....so shut the fuck up. I eat Philly Cheesesteaks fine. I eat Pizza fine. Both are made with cheese. Why wouldn't I be able to eat a philly cheesesteak pizza? Because of the secret sauce....that wasn't cheese, it was something else, it was liquid even in the fridge, it probably contained milk or cream or something...something not normally found on cheesesteaks or pizza..
Thanks for calling me stupid and shit though...because when someone corrects me and calls me stupid but they are completely wrong....it makes them look twice as stupid.

Hopefully one day you drink an entire carton of milk and your head explodes...I'm done trying to show you what a complete idiot you are in this thread.Pilsburry wrote:It's a picture of a guy by himself holding his penis out. Oh yeah and thanks Fesuni for the grammer tip. I'm glad your teacher happened to teach you that today so you could share it with all of us.
But here is a tip....if your best flame is a grammer comment....best to keep your mouth shut. And that's not comming from me, I read that in a document about how to flame.
Here I'll make another grammer mistake see if you caught it, actually I made several.

I guess I'm missing something here.. I thought cheese was a dairy product primarily derived from milk.

Cheese has 95% or so of the lactose removed.
I provided this link further up on the page to back me up, but Miir didn't want to read that post or the link before flaming.
