You stole my line!! But in my case it's actually true.
I was a corrections officer, he was a contractor, my post and his assignment were in the same area. We started talking, he eventually asked me out, I said yes, and the rest is history.
edit: Our 3 year Anniversary is Wednesday. Popular week for weddings
OMG Kindo was a corrections officer!!!!

Not sure if it counts, because we broke up a while ago -- the the woman who captured my heart was introduced to me by a mutual friend.
I was working for a bank in Connecticut, living in New York City - wanting a job in the city. She was working for a bank in NYC, living about 15 miles from where I worked in CT -- wanting a job in CT. Friend thought we could help each other find new jobs

Ex-wife number one...
I met her when I dropped off my buddies girlfriend at her house... she was the 12 year old pain-in-the-ass little sister that kept screaming "I'm telling MOM!" Needless to say I thought she was a bitch... Five years later when I was 23 and she was 17 we bumped into each other at a party and we were inseperable for 9 years... (Married for 7 years) then one day about 6 years ago she decided to "go dyke" and she packed up and took off for Texas...
Ex-wife number two...
I met this one in an AOL chat room while I was still married to ex-wife number one, there was nothing inappropraite going on, we were just buds... After the first wife bailed out, we were just friends for about 18 months and then one day she was coming up to my city for a visit and we met in person... we were married about a year later... she got EQ from one of her brothers and we started to play together... Then one day she ran off with a 52 Druid and moved from the US to the Netherlands... that was almost exactly 2 years ago...
I am currently going to great lengths to avoid even meeting ex-wife number 3... I go to school, study, and play EQ... for now...

Mine is a strange story as well.
I dated this girl I met in high school for 3 years. She broke up with me, and I was single for most of a year, when for some stupid reason, we got back together. Biggest mistake of my life, and I broke it off with her a month later.
The next day, I was on a local BBS (This is just as the Internet is getting popular) that in its glory days had 86 lines going into it and people in-line talked to each other real-time.
I started talking to this one new girl I've never seen on before, she was a new user. I said I wasnted to see a movie, but didn't have anyone to go with me. She said to take her.
Married 12 months later, will be 7 years in June. (And will be surprised if we get to 8 without killing one another)

When we first met I thought OMG he is a jock! I hated jocks, he thought I looked like a bitch, probably did thinking he was a jock.
He was 16 and I was 15 we dated through out high school then married and have been together tomorrow making it our 20th!

She and I met my sophomore year in high school, on a bus heading back from a class. She was a senior, and I was just a little underclassman. She was dating my best friend at the time, so I got to know her a little. We became best friends over this time, even after she broke it off with my friend and went back to scum boyfriend. They had dated on and off for three years, and he was your typical asshole. They finally broke it off for good when he beat the living piss outta me during school when I told him off for treating her the way he did.
Fast forward two years. We're still friends and working together, she's known how I feel about her for two years, but never expressed any interest in me that way. Well, suddenly, we start spending a lot of time together (more so than when we were casual friends) and then we start dating. Now I'm about ready to graduate high school and will be going to college next year at the same university she's at. It's been a crazy three years, but she's helped to make me the person I am today. I'm looking forward to the years ahead of me, especially if our paths continue to go together.

In the apartments we lived in, I don't remember the details beyond that I had the worm from a bottle of mezcal<sp> hanging out of my mouth
Dated for about 6 months and got married. We'll have our 19th anniversary in July.

Eden (now my wife) has just moved back to portland and just looking for new friends to hang out with and meet. She had met several and still hangs out with those friends. I on the otherhand was looking for a girlfriend that was interrested in me for me not because of my job or my car, or because how much stpuid and uncomforatible I llook like in a smokey ass bar/night club. When we met online we talked online for about a week, on the phone for about 2 weeks, then finally met in person, it was great our personalities meshed great and still do, looking at getting a house soon and then after that kids. Life is great.
I about died when I read this post. I know literally 20-25 people in the Portland area that met their boyfriend/girlfriend on yahoo personals.

Before EQ there was a thing called BBS's. Me and my wife both frequented one in particular that held monthly get togethers. A bunch of us would also go out on friday or saturday nights to the local dive Karaoke bar, close the place down and all head off to denny's at 2am. I didn't have a whole lot of self-esteem at that point. I was recently divorced and feeling pretty damned sorry for myself.. as fate would have it we ended up living 2 apartments away from each other and worked at the same place. We ended up carpooling together to work and for our weekly hangout.. the rest just fell into place..

At work..
He had been there a couple of months, but I had only casually noticed him in passing. Then one night at home I was trying to multi-task..ie, talking on the phone while checking my emails, I got myself the good ol' "HEY YOU" virus. Being the pathetic pc n00b that I was at that time, he had overheard me crying to my co-workers the next day and offered to help.
After that we just started hanging out for lunch or afterwork for drinks with the gang. I think our co-workers noticed the attraction we had for each other before we did, cause I was forever being teased about it. A few weeks later, while walking around town checking out at a local car show, I just looked over at him and thought to myself "wow, he really is something special." I still think that to this day.

I agree! He has taught me much in the 3 years we've been together, and not just about PC's!

Our first kiss was standing in the tilt a whirl line* i was15 he was 18* (wouldn't take my girls back for nothing but if I had it to do all over again it would be very different)...Got married a year later on Fri the 13. had 2 daughters.Stayed together for 6 years. He told me he had a headache and to go ahead and go out with our friends and that he would just stay home with the girls. I came home and he had moved out and my little brother was babysitting.

Met online in a role playing chat room, talked as friends for like a year n half. That friendship grew into feelings on both sides, flew and drove down from Toronto to VA to meet her a few times. Got married in Dec '98 and still going strong.
But god damn do I miss Canada ... nothing but rednecks n assholes in this area.
