I'm pretty sure the "more subscribers than to any other subscription-based video game in history" would beg to differ on that.

Unless my numbers are wrong.

That doesn't make the game amazing, that just makes it a mmorpg that anyone at or above a 3rd grade level of education can play - that is what makes it more popular. I myself played it for a few years - but the numbers of subscribers != amazing.

I'm afraid I have to agree with this. However, I must say that WoW seems to be a very tight game. That is speaking of game play and how things work. Then again I am a Vanguard player so a riviting game of Minesweeper would be considered "tight" in my eyes.

Yeah, I wasn't saying that the number of subscribers meant it was amazing. I was trying to point out that you don't know shit, and I'd wager that a good number of the millions people who own the game find it amazing. Be they those disillusioned former EQ (and other MMO) players who found it amazing enough to pick it up and still be playing it a few years later or the people who never got into MMOs until they saw WoW and found it amazing enough to start playing.

The point being that aggressive, immature wigger douchebags from Minnesota shouldn't try and speak for the populace as a whole. You should also probably know that you're coming from a pretty narrow niche demographic.

I was polite to you because I'm a super nice guy and I talk to everyone that sends me tells periodically in-game, but I call you out now because I know youre on here thumping your chest like youre some kind of authority on WoW. Having interacted with you numerous times in-game, I happen to know that you are full of shit and have no point of reference whatsoever in regards to the game, aside from standing around all day in Orgimmar drooling over PVP gear and bragging about how you could grind out HWL easily if you ever really wanted to... in PUGs, no less!

1 - lol aside nothing, I said it was fun (hence why I played it for a bit) not amazing, which is not an opinion, it's a fact.

2- The graphics are not amazing, or groundbreaking, nor is the gameplay. It's fun, and it's the only fun game of it's type out really - and the more casual person can play it - but none of this makes it amazing, as hard as that obviously is for you to understand.

Why do I even bother trying to talk to fucking idiots like you.

Funk, you really do need to learn to tell the difference between "fact" and "opinion." I think you have them reversed quite often.

I think that calling WoW amazing is justified for the reason that Sylvus was stating. What other game has been able to pull in, and keep, that many people? None. That is why the number of subscibers does make the game amazing. It is hard enough to keep many "raiders" from other games, and easy enough to keep the "casual" players involved as well. I too have canceled and restarted my subscription to WoW a few times. It is fun for a while (like most MMO's that I rotate subs to are), but I like to get a taste of something else as well. The fact that I am able to walk away from the game like that does not make my amazement at how many players there are any less justified.

Who said anything about an authority, I was stating a simple fact. No where did I say I knew everything about WoW - I haven't even played half the content because it bored me, and because I have better things to do with my life now then lock myself up in my room and play a computer game all day long.

And I knew plenty about the game that I needed to when I played. I didn't get into the intricate mechanics of raiding because I hardly did any, not that that matters anyhow, you just use addons to do all the work for you in that game anyhow.

Oh and It's funny that you are so uppity about the game, I even recall you making a smart ass comment about me being in Unholy Aura when I still played, because they SOOO SUCKED. You know what's funny though, they got through content well before Ixtlan - with less people, less play raiding time required of their members, no cheating, etc.

I guess just because you got to HW though (or it could have been being in FoH in EQ, most of it's members had arrogant shitty attitudes), that gives you a ticket to be a loud mouthed fucking prick, well do yourself a big favor and shut the fuck up, i'm not interested in your uneducated blabber you fucking tool.

Quit faggoting up this thread with your unsubstantiated opinions.

This thread is about Starcraft. I'm in NO WAY surprised you don't get sci-fi... it occasionally requires a lot more intelligence than you're capable of.

I'm in no way surprised that you don't understand how WoW is a really good MMOG, and how the simple fact that they have been able to acquire and maintain more active subscriptions in the history of the genre DOES make them the best MMOG. Maybe you and Brad McQuaid can go be asshole buddies together. What other bar than number of subscriptions and subscription retention is there for judging an MMOG? How much fun YOU had? You have fun spitting on people, having other people do your work for you, returning games that are too hard for you, and generally being a faggot. That doesn't meant it's for everyone.

Better than average, but the last text bubble was unnecessary.

Comic writing critiques aside, I'm looking forward to this. An updated version of SC1 is pretty much all I ever expected out of SC2. I think it looks fine graphically - I don't see much of a reason to change existing unit models drastically from their SC1 concepts. I am curious about how flexible the camera controls will be though. From what is actually available to see (which is not much obviously), I feel... optimistic.

I reinstalled SC 1 the other day, and I kept wanting to scroll out for a wider view of the battle. That function is a fundamental part of RTS gaming for me now, and everything has it (that's 3D). I'm sure SC2 will be no different, but I'm with you as far as seeing how Blizzard handles it.

I'm currently downloading the gameplay movie they posted.

That ~$250 space marine they're selling is pretty crazy. :P

Edit: The gameplay movie is very impressive looking, and while they appear (from everything I've read) to have done away with Hero units, they may have compensated for them by adding in specialized units (like the Protoss mothership). It's hard to not watch the gameplay video, see the motherships 'Timebomb' ability and not just be awed.

I'm pretty sure that some of the orc/human units in WC3 said some of the same things as in WC2. It would be downright criminal if SC2 didn't say "Spawn more overlords".

Way Cool. :D

The Time Bomb ability is the most visually amazing RTS unit ability ever.
but.. the Planet Cracker ability looks to be the most destructive!

Protoss seems to be drawing from the Gungans with all these bubble shield systems

That gameplay footage was erection inducing.

I like how the Mothership "end unit" was limited to one. Dawn of War employed that same system and it worked extremely well. You're able to see and use some heavy firepower and unique units, but you can't sit back in your base and make 20 of them and steamroll your enemy. By being reduced to 1, you increase your tactics in using it. Also, having only 1 makes it a high profile target that can swing the momentum of a battle, but never win it singlehanded, ala WC3's Hero units.

Very, very impressive demo video. It looked fantastic. I can't wait to see more zerg!

You can download it from Starcraft2.com.

Be warned if you don't use fileplanet, you'll be using Blizzards asstastical Bittorrent client.

Yes, that is correct, the Dragoons of old from Starcraft which contained injured veteran templars of ancient wars are now called Immortals in SC2.

Immortals, we put their name to the test.
