Aemdar I have looked into it. More often than not, in my direct experience, adoption is only a PITA if you are unfit or unstable to be considered. I know people that have applied for and gotten children within 3 weeks, to use the best example.
It's true they're not raging homosexuals and have solid lifestyles though.

the kids with the highest chance for potential problems will come through the state, and the approval process probably doenst take that long, and if you are not too picky, you can probably get a kid pretty fast.
but let's say you wanted to protect yourself legally, so the adoption was signed off by both parents, you wanted a kid who you have relatively decent assurances got good pre-natal care, then you would go through a private agency. Private agency adoptions can take several years. Not so much from an approval standpoint, but from a wait list standpoing.
