Yeah, that shows it is 87 but feels like 111 (at the time I looked at it). It also explains that the 111 includes the humidity.
Feels Like
Refers to how the outdoor air is expected to feel in degrees Celsius when actual temperature and relative humidity are combined (see humidex) or when actual temperature and wind are combined (see windchill).
I guess it's something we're just a little more used to seeing down here. That kind of heat isn't something I would wish on anyone.
It's nice and cool here today...92 with a heat index of 95 I expect to see the 100's this afternoon though.
106 Downtown Austin
106 San Marcos
105 Lago Vista
105 Waco
104 Bastrop
104 Camp Mabry
103 ABIA
103 Huston Tillotson
103 Round Rock
Don't forget where those measurements are taken -- temperature reports you see here on news8austin.com, on 'Weather on the Eights,' and from the National Weather Service are all recorded in the shade, not the direct sun. At the peak of the afternoon heat, medical experts say your body heat could rise 10 to 20 degrees higher when under direct sunlight. Please, be sure to take breaks to protect your self and those around you! Always drink plenty of water.
You pussies, its not that bad. Thats normal weather down here. 100-105 and 100% humidity. Hell, we went biking for about 3 hours the other day when it was 103 with 85% humidity and it wasnt that bad. Sure, we were covered in sweat, but you just have to drink more water.

You're acclimated to it, part of that is having about 100x as many sweat glands as one of them thar Canucks. You can cool off, they don't have the ability (yet)
By the time they've acclimated Aug will be over it'll be cold again.

Trivia!
Do differant races secrete more perspiration when under mental and
physical stress?
There are minor differences in sudation among ethnic groups, but they
are overshadowed by individual variations. Although all ethnic groups
have roughly equal numbers of sweat glands (eccrine glands, the ones
that produce normal, odorless sweat), their distribution over the body
varies slightly. The amount of sweat they produce is subject to
enormous individual variation.
A larger group variation can be seen with respect to apocrine glands,
the ones that produce fatty substances that are the source of body
odor (especially after bacteria attack them). East Asians (Japanese,
Chinese, etc.) have far fewer apocrine glands than most other ethnic
groups, even though they have plenty of eccrine glands. Thus, East
Asians don't smell as much; although here again, individual variation
tends to overshadow group variations. The exact character of body
odor also varies from one group to another, and from one individual to
another. But overall perspiration is much more consistent.
Ironically, although East Asians have fewer apocrine glands, East
Asian societies tend to worry much more about body odor, sometimes to
the extent that some people will have apocrine glands surgically
removed in order to reduce body odor. Of course, taking a shower
works, too, but in a hot environment that may not be sufficient to
prevent any odor from developing.
Was checking out a currency converting Opera Widget and noticed that one Canadian dollar is worth .89 U.S. cents. That's pretty good. What are you guys up to!
HA HA Fuckers!!! We had that shit here on the west coast for a week....it moved over to all you poor bastards back east.
The weather here turned unusually cool....overcast, with highs in the lower 70's.
I live about 12 miles from you Skogen. I took the kids to Magic Mountain for the first time during that heat spell, it was 122 degrees. I don't care what the humidity index is, that was brutal. We did not know it was that hot because we were coming home from Yosemite and it was raining there otherwise I would never have gone. They had over 100 people treated at the park for heat exhaustion that day. This recent weather has been great, nice, cool, light FUCKSHITBITCHASS, I wish it was like this all the time.
Skogen what has your electric bill been like lately? Last month ours was 515 dollars thanks to the heatwave.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon
