The service that you are paying for is the phone and the cable.
You are not specifically paying for customer support although it is included with your service.

A cruise
Broadway
Disneyland
Installing a game (ie: EQ2, WoW, EQ) + loading/patching
Customer support (for just about anything)
Netflix
Insurance (sad, but true
A cruise, a broadway show and installing a game are not continual services.
What monthly services do you pay a specific monthly fee for telephone support?
Obviously netflix doesn't offer instant movies becuase of delivery times.
Insurance is an always on service as long as you're paying your monthly premiums.

A movie at the theatre.
A Rollercoaster.
Sometimes a sporting event.
An airplane ride.
A restaurant.
None of those are continual services.

Remember though, this is mainly during peak times. There is a reason they are busy.
Name another MMOG that has ever had a login queue due to server congestion.

In over 5 years of playing Everquest I don't recall ever seeing a login queue. Sure there were login server problems and server outages but there were only a handful of occasions where the server was up and I had to wait to log in.

Why does it have to be a continual service? Break it down into months if you have to. 1 month of playing = 1 meal. A service is a service is a service.

You sit down and play for 1 month, vs, you sit down and have a meal for an hour or 2.

If you still don't understand, you're an idiot, plain and simple. I'll stop trying to reason with you because you are so hell bent into trying to bash something without listening to anything someone has to say. But ya, keep making excuses to disprove your very unlogical arguments.

Lets be more specific, it has to be a continual service in the genre of an online game where you have a good race and a bad race and the title has to rhyme with 'tarcraft'. If we can name one, can we be right?

Continual services? rofl now you just nitpicking.

"omg I didnt mean services in general."
You are not specifically paying for customer support although it is included with your service.
Nice going contradicting yourself.
Obviously netflix doesn't offer instant movies becuase of delivery times.
Obviously, but it was a service, continual if you want to be that picky, that can be delayed. So yes, it can count as waiting.

So as I fly my griff to the raid, afk (if I need to) and completely safe for any troubles until I land. Remember to watch for that aggro, world geometry and zoning!

haha, not defending it at all, just pointing out how sorry Miir's "point" is. We already know he hated having to wait in a queue, but he's like the jealous ex that won't stay away since he knows he really liked the booty calls...even though he doesn't want anyone else to know ;)

Or we just like playing the game.

All the crying is way over exaggerated. My gametime apart from a bit of lag recently is fine.

People are just over-reacting to look cool on a message board :P

I dunno about you guys but I have precious little gaming time available to me and I sure as hell don't want to spend it waiting in a queue.
I agree with Nick, take the quoted text for example. I mean, Animalor, if you have so little time that a 3-5 minute queue puts a dent in it, I don't see how playing any mmorpg is a viable option for you anyhow.

Well SS is one mouse click from Qeynos... and every raid zone is less than 10 minutes from the docks in SS.
And Barren Sky (or if you prefer 'Realm of Dawn'.. who the hell calls it that?) is around 10 mins from qeynos or freeport, less if you have good timing on the spires.
Start running, and remember to turn on auto-run again everytime you finish zoning. Hope you don't aggro anything, or auto-run into something when you go afk for a minute.
Last time I checked, there is no FP that goes directly to MC, BWL, Onyxia, AQ or even ZG.

To get to BWL/MC from Org, you have to run to the blimp, wait for the blimp to UC... run into UC, then take the FP to Kargath then you have a 5+ minute run to get to the raid.
Total travel time is over 20 minutes... with between 5-10 minutes when you actually have to be at the keyboard.

AQ isn't as bad from Org but you're still looking at over 10 minutes on a bird (with one transfer) and around 3-4 minutes traveling when you actually have to be at the keyboard  on foot.

Onyxia is a little quicker in that it's 1 short bird ride and a 3-4 minute run.

Alliance traqvel times to BWL and MC are obviously a little shorter due to their proximity to IF, but Onyxia and especially AQ take a long fucking time to get to unless you have the Gadgetzan teleport...

Seriously, you look like an idiot trying to troll that travel times in EQ2 are too long. If anything, they trivialised travel in EQ2 a little bit too much. The only destination in EQ2 that's really a pain in the ass to get to is CT.

All that may be true, but EQ2 still sucks!

Btw, I've never had an issue with que times in WoW, but I also play non-traditional hours. Overall, I've never had any problems at all playing WoW, so I just see a lot of overexaggeration on both sides of the fence. Although, I imagine it has a lot to do with what server you're on too :P

I guess it's been a while since you played. The "final destination" enhancement to flightpaths mean no transfers. You pick where you want to end up on the continent, and it sends you there.

Also, getting to MC is shorter if you take the Zep to Grom'Gol instead of UC. Then fly to Thorium Point instead of Kargath (once again without transfer due to "final destination" enhancement) and you should be able to ride your mount for 2 minutes or less to get to the mountain.

Looking at your times listed, 10 minutes is longer than it takes me to get most places in WoW, and I can be doing something else through the majority of any travel time I do have.

For the record, I was presenting my experience w/ WW. I had low level characters on there back in early '05. It didn't make any sense for me to have to wait. The times I tried to log in, the wait wasn't worth it. I don't get a lot of time to play each week, but I play WoW because it's not necessary to play a lot unless you're a raider. Obviously, I'm not. I wouldn't say a MMO is a bad choice of games though as WoW can be played as a quick fix game.

Starting over on a new server was an easy choice for me and was providing Boog what my experience was. You have established deep ties to the server and apparently have enough free time to eat those minutes waiting. That's fine by me

yes. btw queues on firetree are usually non-existent. the server is either up or its down. i've experienced queues for like maybe 15-20 of the entire time i've tried logging in to wow. if it took more than 5 minutes i'd go play/do something else.
