Tsk, tsk.... That's
not the perfect pie...

I need to visit France again.
Take me! I thought about not going back to the States when I was there. I'd take a cardboard box in Paris over a 5 bedroom home here.

Aye, pie is much better than cake. Though no one has mentioned the best pie without a doubt is rhubarb - and not that pansy strawberry rhubarb - if you cannot handle straight rhubarb leave it alone.
So, does anyone else pour milk on their raspberry / blackberry / dewberry / blueberry pie? My in-laws give me strange looks when I do that for breakfast the day after Thanksgiving.

Both my grandmothers make rhubarb pie, nasty nasty stuff.
Seems to be pretty common dish in the northern states. My relatives that live in WI and PA all love it. They all drink heavily too, so that could be part of it.

Not Irish here - my father was first generation American (Dutch) and my mother was a hillbilly from German descent (howdy y'all).
But I am from western NY (as far away from the city you can get and still be in NY) and all my family makes it and loves it. I really miss rhubarb living in the south. Have talked to some local farmers and they all tell me it is too warm to grow it down here.

I like Rhubarb pie - but I like strawberry-rhubarb pie better ;D Though thats due to strawberry addiction more than anything.
And whomever mentioned bear claws I give you a HELL YEAH! Those rule. There is a bakery local here that makes the best bear claws in the world (ok so I am probably biased). So if you are ever in the Portland, OR area be sure to check out Beaverton Bakery. To die for.

strawberry-rhubarb pie =

Aranuil, please be aware that by seeking to lay blame on Master Drolgin, you are now to be scheduled for a summary execution for Treason Against the Rightful Ruler of Sweden. An executioner will be contacting you to schedule your demise shortly.
(oh yeah and everything is Lokes' fault)

Just an update.
I ate pie last night, apple. It was wonderful. To pay my respects to the gospel of pie, I bought a piece for Bakara, who is responsible for showing me the light, the truth that is pie, and Imster who is a new student to the wonder of pie.
I was going to take a picture of me eating pie but I had just napped and looked a wreak (altho, next to that glorious slice, who woulda noticed?), but maybe I will do this in the future.
I think we should all post pics of ourselves eating pie, instead of the self-glorification of the Pictures post.

It just depends on what kind of cake it is and what kind of pie it is... sometimes cake > pie and sometime pie > cake
but above all...
