Didn't Bush Sr. pardon him for those crimes? If so, then there were no crimes...
You might wanna read up on that one again... a pardon does not say you are innocent, or that there "were no crimes".

You wont like my reply to this: Get the damn troops under the blue UN flag. It is the ONLY way you'll have a chance to get anything long-term working there. It will help settle down the several Iraqi factions, will help settle down the rest of the Middle East, and it will make the killing of a soldier harder since it will be an UN soldier. Yes people will consider killing an UN soldier worse than an American, even if the UN soldier is in fact American.
Didn't the UN pull out of Iraq after someone blew the hell out of their HQ building? I don't remember how many of their people were killed but it sure didn't inspire anyone to bring an end to the violence and instability in the region.

Yeah, even if his permanent record says that he committed no crimes, I think that they still detract from considering him someone who "represent truth, honesty, and integrity".

Well.. yes and no. I mean *legally* the crime is still recognised, a pardon just removes the punishment, not the crime, vis:
pardon. The act or instance of officially nullifying punishment or other legal consequences of a crime. A pardon is usually granted by the chief executive of a government (the President has the sole power to issue pardons for federal offenses, while state governors have the power to issue pardons for state crimes)
