Dude. Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you? How can you be so angry? Cop out? I'm telling you how I feel about this issue. How is that a cop out? Is it because you just so badly need me to be the racist you think I am? Would it shatter your precious little world to accept I am not that guy? Knock it off man. The childish angry internet dude act is old. It was mildly interesting, maybe, 5-8 years ago? It's not anymore. Time to be more reasonable.

You are really very unintelligent aren't you.

Who said this: "I am so overexposed, I make Paris Hilton look like a recluse."
By Lynn Sweeton July 31, 2008 4:17 PM | Permalink | Comments (5)

Paris Hilton jumped into the political news on Wednesday when her image was used by the McCain campaign in an ad mocking the celebrity of presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).

But this was not the first time Hilton was injected into political discourse.

Obama himself mentioned her during his routine before the winter Gridiron dinner in 2004, just after he was elected to the Senate. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) used her name to make a point about Scooter Libby getting clemency from President Bush in July, 2007.

"Even Paris Hilton had to go to jail. No one in this Administration should be above the law," Durbin said.

In 2004 Obama riffed about his celebrity at the Gridiron, saying everything changed for him after he keynoted the Democratic convention earlier that year.

"It's like I was shot out of a cannon. I am so overexposed, I make Paris Hilton look like a recluse. "After all the attention -- People magazine, GQ, Vanity Fair, Letterman -- I figure there's nowhere to go from here but down. So tonight, I announce my retirement from the United States Senate. I had a good run."

Of course, all the hype, said Obama, generates wacky tabloid coverage." And with that he hoisted a poster, a mock cover of the National Enquirer with the headline: Obama's shocking secret. He's Strom Thurmond's love child."

Obama said he was not letting all the attention go to his head. He joked that he was hanging out with Warren Beatty and Jack Nicholson at a Los Angeles restaurant when Barbra Steisand called him on his cell phone. And he counseled her, you can't just get caught up in the hype."

DOH!!! As time goes on the luster comes off of this clown. Once held above all as a 'different' politician, is finally, slowly, being shown to be no different at all. The only change is skin color.

He's the same as other politicians because he made a couple jokes?

I, admittedly, have not seen the commercial, so I don't know in what light they were comparing Obama and Paris Hilton, but just because he made a comparison of his overexposure to her overexposure doesn't mean that McCain's ad is the same thing.

Not to mention that the Hiltons are maximum contributors to the McCain campaign, and Kathy Hilton didn't care much for him using her daughter in his ad...
Kathy Hilton wrote:I’ve been asked again and again for my response to the now infamous McCain celebrity ad. I actually have three responses. It is a complete waste of the money John McCain’s contributors have donated to his campaign. It is a complete waste of the country’s time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next President of the United States.
I guess I'll have to check the ad out when I'm not at work. I'm guessing it's not the same thing though.

It's like McCain waves a flag that says "HEY YOU, STUPID WHITE TRASH, LOOK HERE!" and Midnyte comes to this forum and says "hey everyone look at the flag McCain is waving!!" His brain simply cannot understand the flag is being waved for ignorant people like himself and not for intelligent people who really don't give a shit about the bells and whistles designed specifically and intentionally to distract ignorant white trash from what really fucking matters. Because to ignorant fucking buffoons, Paris Hilton ads matter.

Well Midnyte, since you love the dog and pony show so much, let me ask you this, who do you believe is more popular, Paris Hilton or Tiger Woods, and which of those is more comparable to Barack Obama?

Yes, that's because every fucking word you posit is offensive to me, despite your intentions. Why? Well, I just have a very very low tolerance for utter fucking stupidity, and even less tolerance for those who flaunt it and actually take pride in it, and I deal with it by exposing it clearly for what it is.

There you go again. You're on a roll. You call me stupid while I acknowledge you share a different philosophy than I. I believe your need to think those who disagree with you are stupid........is stupid. You're not stupid, that behavior is though. You should work on that.

So what really matters, then?... Using the word 'change' like it means something, and then acquiescing to most Bush policies? (oil drilling, faith based initiatives, no definitive time-table for complete pull-out of Iraq, keeping the tax cuts, etc)

Tiger Woods is who you're going with, huh? He's definitely more popular, and if politics were the Pro Personality Tour then Obama would be the Tiger of that organization. Instead he's just a guy, one of thousands of politicians with very little talent or experience, tossed into the limelight and soaking it up. Hmm... Paris it is.

I'm sure you could find things to compare me to Paris Hilton. Stupid and shallow wouldn't be those, but I'm sure there are things. Just because one thing doesn't fit, doesn't rule out those things that do. The onyl comparion made in the ad was that he was a media creation just like Paris. Have a nice day.

Oh, and I'm not sure what alternate universe you live in but legitimately attacking someone's stupidity is perfectly valid if that person absolutely insists on putting their stupidity out into the public domain.

Also, the most recent article about Obama that you posted and the justification for more partisan idiocy you gave is pretty much an insult to everyone here - not for its content, but for its total lack of content.

Tucker Bounds... He's the schmuck that said John McCain does NOT speak for the John McCain campaign. Midnyte, is it pretty fucking sad when a campaign has to disavow what their candidate says repeatedly, acknowledging that the candidate doesn't even know or understand his own platform?

I love how McCain's campaign is actually responding about Paris Hilton's "revenge ad". You reap what you sow, and McCain has sown stupidity. If this causes that vapid skank to crawl back from under the rock she's been under since her jail time, I am holding McCain personally responsible.

I like the Obama team's response:

John McCain is now trusted more than Barack Obama on nine out of 14 electoral issues tracked by Rasmussen Reports. The latest national telephone surveys find that McCain has the biggest advantage on the war in Iraq, by a 51% to 39% margin.

Perhaps the most interesting finding of these polls is that McCain has expanded his leads on nearly every issue he had previously had the advantage on, while Obama’s leads have diminished over the past two weeks.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows the race for the White House is very close. The results are consistent with results from the past couple of weeks showing a race that is essentially even as the convention season approaches (see recent daily results).

In the new survey, McCain has tripled his lead on the topic of immigration. He now has a 45% to 36% advantage over his Democratic opponent, up from a three-point lead two weeks ago.

The Republican also has pulled ahead on the issue of balancing the federal budget. Two weeks ago, the candidates were tied on this issue at 40%. McCain now has a 43% to 40% lead on the issue among voters.

McCain used to be behind on the issue of Social Security but has pulled ahead of Obama for a 44% to 38% lead.

On issues that Obama has previously enjoyed huge advantages, such as health care and education, his leads have decreased. On health care, Obama leads 46% to 41%, down from a 12 percentage-point lead just two weeks ago. On education, Obama leads 43% to 39%, down from a 10-point lead two weeks ago. On environmental issues, Obama’s advantage over McCain has gone from 14 percentage points down to eight this week.

The economy is the top issue for the majority of voters this election season. Voters have consistently trusted the Democratic Party more on this issue, but the two presidential candidates are tied at 45% as to who voters trust more. A week prior, Obama had a statistically insignificant one percentage point lead on the issue.

On national security, an issue that McCain consistently performs well on, the Republican leads 52% to 40%. His lead represents an improvement from the eight-point lead he held the week before.

A poll released this week finds that over half of voters support Obama’s proposal to provide working families with energy credits but aren’t sure about his idea of taxing big oil companies. When asked who voters trust more when it comes to energy issues, voters choose McCain by a 46% to 42% margin.

When it comes to government ethics and corruption, Obama has a 46% to 44% advantage. A separate survey finds that the Democratic Party is trusted more on this issue by a 40% to 29% margin

Poll: Nearly half hearing too much about Obama

Barack Obama may be the fresh face in this year's presidential election, but nearly half say they're already tired of hearing about him, a poll says.

With Election Day still three months away, 48 percent said they're hearing too much about the Democratic candidate, according to a poll released Wednesday by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center. Just 26 percent said the same about his Republican rival, John McCain.

Obama, the 47-year-old Illinois senator who would become the first black president, has dominated political news coverage much of the year. According to an ongoing Pew study, Obama has appeared in more news stories this year and more people say they have heard more about him than McCain, the longtime Arizona senator who also ran for president in 2000.

Two-thirds of Republicans and about half of independents said they've heard too much about Obama, as did a third of Democrats, a significant number.

At the same time, nearly four in 10 said they've been hearing too little about McCain — about four times the number who said so about Obama. About half of Republicans, four in 10 independents and even a quarter of Democrats said they've not heard enough about the GOP candidate.

The poll was conducted from Aug. 1-4 and involved telephone interviews with 1,004 adults. It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

What's causing that though? The media or their actual campaigns?

Little bit of both, I'd think.

It's a conspiracy by the conservative media. They knew what would happen...

If the media was run primarily by conservatives, I'd agree with you.

That was actually what they were saying when Clinton was in the race, and I wouldn't be shocked for them to be doing the same. I think mentioned several pages back about how many people were in the Clinton lines during the Democratic Caucus in Texas because Rush Limbaugh and other Conservatives were telling them that the more they pushed Clinton, the more likely a McCain win would be.

I know it was mentioned...cause I mentioned it!
I stood in line next to a Republican who crossed party lines in the primary to vote and caucus for Clinton because of that.

Yeah, I said the same thing at the time too. That seemed to be who over half of the people in the Clinton line were. Pretty sure Gzette was in line with me, but we didn't realize that until afterwards.

But it is, remember that thread the other day about the study published by the Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University?
