I'll also agree with Noysy on the silly CA laws regarding firearms. Pistol grips and folding stocks, oi vey.... much of that was fallout from the Brady Act, if I remember correctly. I will disagree a bit on the range of the .223, but tbh, I have not fired a AR-15 for some time, so will not talk out my ass on projected range. I do know that even though it is pretty much a M16-1A, it can not be easily converted to select fire, if at all.

Not on a AR-15, amigo! On some of the Chinese Kalishnikovs that were popular in the early 90s, you could use a ziptie for the conversion, I heard. I think that Colt's machinery was too complex to easily convert.

Kalishnakovs are some sturdy workhorses with machined steel and wooden stocks. You can drop one of those fuckers in the mud, pick it up, shake it off and let loose again. M16s are finicky bitches, but more in tune with a nation of sport hunters.
