Frankly, I am amazed. Sandler can act? Well, yeah, apparently, he can. What a nice little gem amongst the hollywood crap floating around these days. Adam Sandler and Emily Watson were perfect. I don't normally give a rat's ass about love stories, however, this film really had me.
It is hard to say why, really... Director, PT Anderson is a wacky fucker, having made such films as A Hard 8, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, etc.. but he does know how to tell a story. I am not sure if it is the story or all the weird shit that happens--whatever it was, it works. Dialogue? Not much. Sets? Not many... so why is it good? Hell, I am not really sure...
But I liked it.
To the DVD... well, the DVD doesn't have any extras(not sure if there is a 2nd disc, I just rented it via NetFlix and they don't send all discs if it is a set), but it is worthy of checking out just to see a strange and beautifully filmed movie.
EDIT: Love story in a Buffalo 66 sort of way...
