X-Men United
Tomarrow night is the big night! Anyone else as psyched about this movie as I am? I've already bought my tickes and I'm itching to check it out.
Remember, if you bought the X-Men 1.5 DVD, you have free tickets to X-Men 2 or Daredevil.

He does. You'll also be happy to know that his character is exceptionally well done in terms of special effects. I saw the "making of" the other day and all I can say is, WOW. After reading the comics, you'd think his powers would be pretty cool and all, but there always seemed to be better. But once you actually see him use them in a live-action setting, you'll quickly think he's one of the coolest X-Men ever.I hope Nightcrawler is done well. Wonder if he'll have the european accent like he's supposed to.
My roommate and I are going tomorrow night. Afterwards I'm treating him to X-Men Ice Cream since he's broke. Make a theme of the night and all that... Should be entertaining.

I will probably see it opening night as well.
I'm not as excited, never read comics as a kid.....but I liked the first one and I think this one will do well also.
When you deal with a subject like X-men, and that budget....you would have to be really horrible to produce a less then average movie. There is just so much of the world already fleshed out, so much material, action...
It's not like daredevil where you have one almost normal guy against a normal guy ina normal city......you have a handful of super hero's in a sci-fi setting with a handful of super vilians and a world filled with mutants. They have so much to work with....and probably a much larger budget. And hell even daredevil was worth watching.

In my opinion, the real hero of X-men 1 was the casting director.
I thought all of the actors were well chosen; most especially Hugh Jackman. I honestly didn't think they'd be able to find anyone to play Wolverine.
Nightcrawler is completely cool. He's definitely the character I'm most looking forward to.
I wish they'd added Colossus, Havok, Gambit, and my ultimate favorite X-man, Angel/Archangel to this movie's lineup.

Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.
The original X-Men circa the 60's, were Cyclops, the Beast, Angel, Iceman, and Marvel Girl (aka Jean Gray). The revival in the 80's had Cyclops, Jean Gray (aka Pheonix), Collusus, Kitty Pryde, Rogue, Storm and Nightcrawler. We are still missing some damn good characters, but glad they got Nightcrawler into this one. Look forward to it, and to hearing who is gonna be in 3.

Clip with Colossus in it, but I don't think he gets much screen time

/disagree
Wolverine was the ONLY well-played character in the first film and the only one who felt like more than a cardboard cutout or screen extra.
Here's hoping the second film fleshes out both the heroes and villans a bit more.

His Xavier was spot on and he gave a great performance. Ian McKellan was really good also.

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

Hugh Jackman was excellent. Patrick Stewart was excellent, but also obvious. Ian McKellen was the spot on perfect casting.
Frankly, I thought most of the roles were very well cast and acted. The only really glaring exceptions being Storm and Rogue - both of whom gave very flat performances, and repeated their hum drum acting in X2.

I guess I should rephrase my dislike....
I don't disagree with most of the casting, but rather the shitty way the characters were treated in the first film. We got to know two characters to any substatial degree, Magneto and Wolverine. The others could have been cardboard cutouts for all they added to the film. The most disappointing example being Xavier. Noone who wasn't a fan of the comic is going to have any idea why he is so important.
Halle sucks as an X-Man. Course Halle pretty well sucks at acting, but that's for another thread.
